Default Improving my English.. grammar

Guys,

Can you give me some advice to improve my english vocubolary and writing? I believe that my english writing and speaking is not that bad but still i want to improved more so that my communication will be more effective. I am now currently reading some basic article but I am hoping if you guys have some stuffs or idea's to improved my english writing and vocubulary. Thanks Guys

Rak; there's no magical or specially cool technique. Just read a lot of what you are interested in and make sure you understand around 80% of it. Not too much more or less. And keep doing this for an hour or two a day for a few years. Your English will improve a lot.
Later practice writing.

Thanks newmark, I not intentionally looking for magical or special cool technique. I am just asking if there are some more effective ways to improve. I also do what you posted I read books and I make it sure that i understand them not only 80% but hundred. I also keep a journal and update it weekly or daily. The purpose of this thread is to gather more pattern or exercises to improve.

Anyway it will be broad to discuss but to make it simple can you post some comments to the blog i created, my link is under my signature.

If you understand 100% of the text before you read you won't give yourself the opportunity to improve. Of course, this is still practice, just not as good as when there is a part you must guess as you read. I find it's best to read first quite quickly, just guessing the meaning, then later look up the meaning; although, if you read enough, this last stage isn't absolutely necessary.
Incidentally, one of the world's greatest polyglots, a Hungarian woman I think, claimed to have learnt languages by reading alone. Although, at at some stages she did take classes. She could speak over 20 languages.

Just impersonate the way they speak!

"Hello, I'm Bart Simpson! Who the h*ll are you?"

Truly, I think watching TV, News, Reading would help a lot. That's how I did it.

If I understand 100% of the text before I read, it means I dont give myself the oppurtunity to imporve? How come? please explain because this makes me confuse. thanks

As I said before, if you understand everything it will give you practice. And it will slowly improve your grammatical understanding. However, you originally said that you wanted to improve your vocabulary as well. To do this you need to expose yourself to new words or familiar words in new contexts. If what you read is too easy this won't happen. The same is true for improving your listening, which as clementc82 said can be done by watching TV that you enjoy.

About a year ago I made extensive use of the following site for improving my grammer:

Glossary of Grammatical Terms

It's about the common grammar errors and correct usage of various terms. I experience that my grammer mostly improves from reading books and looking up words, to add to my vocabulary, in dictionaries.
