Hello I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to start with my goals...I've been living back home with my mum and unfortunately suffering with depression and my two main goals have been to pay off debts and get mentally better through counselling. I've done quite well on both of these goals but still have work to do. But now I feel I am under pressure to move out as the relationship with my mum has deteriorated and she wants me out. And I'm at a total loss as to where to start, feel I need to get a new job as the old one wasn't earning enough and its depressing me - just driving, i also still need to pay off some remaining debt, save for a car, get some friends, get some training possibly for a new career....and on and on! It all feels a little overwhelming and just confusing, feel I'm not giving focus and attention to one thing as thinking I have so many things to do... Also some things seem easier once another one has been achieved, ie. a car might help on the job front, but I'd need job beforehand to pay for car, similarly car would help with social life. I know Steve suggests working on the area's of your life that score lowest which for me would probably social and relationships but feel pressure to get a job, but I also know deep down I don't really want a soul destroying job. At the moment I'm trying to do everything and don't feel I'm achieving anything. Has anyone else had problems with this and found solutions? Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions |

I think you should start with the job issue. You could try to find work in a book-store. Simple but not simple-minded and average payment. Read the advertisements in the newspapers, of course, but be pro-active instead of reactive. Put up notes in the supermarket and at other places. Chances are that many people need help with everything form cleaning their houses to take care of their dogs. And remember that even a few hours a week is a start. Focus on getting a job and you will get to meet new people. New possibilities will arise. I promise you. Best of luck! |
