I'd like to start keeping track of all my expenditures, income, and investment income in one place on a computer program. I'd like to be able to generate graphs from my data such as income/expenditures over various lengths of time, etc. I've got MS Excel, Infopath, and access, as well as the open office programs like open Math and Calc. I was wondering which of these is best for what I'm trying to do? Any advice? Thanks. Last edited by Andrew Michaels; 12-04-2006 at 08:44 PM. |

| What financial software do you use? That might be useful. Only advice I can give is do it regularly and try to be as organised as possible hope this helps, any mathmatical program should be suitable |

I would recommend Acemoney. It's a nice small shareware program. You can easily google it. The trial version is unlimited in everything but the number of accounts. If you need to track your spending it would be enough. It has graphs and everything. I've been using it for the past five years and it came real handy.

Thanks for the recommendation. Downloaded Acemoney yesterday and it looks like a great tool to track my finances. I'm in the course of reorganizing my life (paying off my credit card debts, gaining financial independence). Time to move forward with my life. Can't believe that I discovered PD just now. I can't compare Acemony to any other programs because I've never used anything like that (I never really had money to be bothered with such things). But my opinion has changed, simply because I hardly have anything I should care about my finances. Especially if I'm aiming for financial independence. I installed Acemoney yesterday and it's easy to use. Took me five minutes to get the hang of it and I really enjoy using it. The tip to carry a notebook and pen around to track your expenses is great. I still have a small notebook lying around my desk. |

One program I've been using lately is Budgets Get Real. One of the things I like most about it is that it's been designed with more of a long term focus than some of the other software I have tried (more of an emphasis on concepts like cash flow and tracking money transferred between accounts etc.) It's for Mac & PC. And transferable between the two. They also have a free trial so that you can try the product out. The trial allows you to import up to 200 transactions. |

I'm using Buddi Buddi - Personal budget software for the rest of us . It runs on Win and Mac. It's quite simple but that's what I needed. |
