| Purpose, persistence, and a burning desire: I think that is the great secret of the book. Having those three things, or getting them, is what it's all about, it seems to me. Admittedly I have 'only' listened to the audiobook - I've just started to read the printed book and the above formula leapt right out at me right at the start of Chapter 1, sentence 1, page 1. |

Ya know, we have a whole forum dedicated to this kind of thing popularely called the Law of Attraction. You should check it out. Quote:
Though you can just use meditation, you can actually use modern technology to aid you in achieving these states. It's called brain entrainment and it helps to guide your mind to produce more of these lower waves. | |

I believe the real secret in Think and Grow Rich was burning desire, determination, and then persistence. But mainly persistence. It is consistent with Haanel's big three which was earnest desire, mental demand, and strong will. Hill gave the example of Barnes, Edison, and Ford and the one thing that they all had was determination and persistence to see their idea become a reality. Barnes wanted to be Edison's assistant, Edison wanted to have the light bulb, and Ford wanted the six-cylinder engine. If any one of them had quit think of how different our world would have been. What if Edison had quit on his 9,999th try? All of the above people had one thing in common that Hill wanted to convey: they were persistent until the very end. They wanted their desires, but the main thing was that they never, never, and NEVER stopped. Even Hill's own son was a clear revelation of the secret of burning desire, determination, and persistence. (His son was deaf and fought through to eventually hear things through vibration.) Most people would have stopped after the first try. And btw I haven't read Brian Kim's book but I do intend to do so somehow later and maybe he says the same thing I do, but maybe not. I could write a longer and more detailed treatise as to why persistence is the real secret but I am a little lazy and it's getting late. Determination backed by persistene conquers all. |

Agree with the above commnets. It is a great book which should be read over and over. For those who have not read this book, here is a review with link for free download of the book. Let Us Grow: The Science of Getting Rich – Part II (Review) |

I have many self development books but I came to a point which is like an information overload and I decided to keep 1 book on my desk, read it methodically and apply the principles to my life. First I choose Joe Vitale's Attractor Factor, then I changed my mind into Think And Grow Rich instead... I've read Think And Grow Rich several times before and mastermind concept is hard to apply since I'm a loner usually. But still keeping up reading and trying to apply the principles as best as I can. |

I have constantly heard good things about this book, so about a year ago i made a mental note to read it. Welp, a year later and i still haven't read it, lol, but this thread has reminded me, and i started reading it last night! So thanks everyone for the perspectives. It's really interesting to see how the book has positively affected lives of people. |

Wow, this thread has really been raised from the dead a lot of times! As I see it, it's not the law of attraction, but more the fact that you will focused on what you want, and therefore cut out the things that aren't helping you to achieve that goal. |
