Default Need some help changing my vocabulary.

Hi all,

I need to some with ideas to stop using certain words often. In the last year I have become second in charge of a large company. While I do swear quite a bit that is not the issue at hand. I use the words cool and awesome. These are not words that bring a favourable light to myself or to the company.
Awesome is a recent addition, I was trying to find a word which conveyed some level of excitement about good news beyond saying 'that's good' or 'excellent', rightly or wrongly I began to use awesome. In hindsight and taking a step back from myself it probably wasn't the right choice in the first place.
Cool is a word I have been using for as long as I can remember and I am finding it very difficult to drop from my vocabulary.

Would it be possible to share what industry you are in, so that members to the forum can help in coming up with better alternative words?

It probably won't help too much. I work in the manufacturing industry but my position and the people I communicate with most often are very much white collar administration.

If I remember right Steve Jobs uses word like awesome or gorgeous in his presentations a lot.

Maybe your problem isn't that you use the word awesome but that you don't transmit the energy that should come with it when you use it?

How about "excellent?"

Try the online Thesaurus provided by Merriam Webster. I checked awesome and it offered about 19 synonyms.

Thanks guys. I guess that is the key, I really need to substitute more acceptable words into my everyday use rather than just stop.
You're right brutha, I think the instance that has done me the most damage, the energy was not effectively passed on, I believe I let 'awesome' slip into an email.

Maybe you can somehow delete words like awesome and cool from the spellcheckers wordbook so it alerts you that you made a spelling error when you want to send out the mail the next time?
