That was fun, thank you! I got 15 right.

I was thinking about smiles yesterday and wrote a little blurb about them in my blog as part of a way we can give our best to others. My mom is a compulsive smiler. A mean ole distant relative asked her why she smiles so much, she said, "I smile to let people I know I see them and that seeing them makes me happy."

lol, thanks brutha, that was funny. I got only 10 right. I find it extremely difficult with nothing but visual input. When I talk to someone live, I can feel if they feel smiley. But just from this short image... wow

That must be a nice ability! I suspect I'm just as bad IRL as I was in this. And, judging from my interactions, other people are also bad at telling when I'm smiling fakely and desperately wishing they would go away and let me get back to my book!!

I got 19. The only one I got wrong was the picture of the older woman with medium length blonde hair. I thought it was fake (since her mouth shape didn't seem natural), but it was actually genuine.

I got 15, which surprised me because in real life I have extremely good "radar" when it comes to spotting that sort of fakery. Nearly all the ones I missed were ones I debated over, but all the ones I got right I knew immediately whether they were real or fake. It's all in the eyes--I didn't even look at the actual smiles. In real-life interactions, I would also have had body language and voice inflections, plus the smiles' contexts within a given conversation to go by, so maybe it's not so surprising I only got 15 on this test, after all.

After reading this thread, I did it. I looked at the eyes and guessed 15 out of 20. However, there were 3 that I didn't get to see because I clicked on play too soon and it told me "can't play more then once", so I just took a wild guess. I know at least one of those were wrong, I'm not rememberin which other two I guessed. Fun test!

17, I usually look for head movement, if it moves a lot, it seems like a genuine smile.
