I have a question. I watch a lot of tv and waste a lot of time on the computer. If I stop doing these things, which I know will help me a lot. What will I do? I would probably get bored and start doing it all over AGAIN If anyone has any tips or advices, they will be very welcomed |

Pick a goal that you can work on anytime. Decide that you will not spend any time behind the PC or TV for say 30 days. If you get bored, take action towards that goal. If you accomplish this goal. Pick a new one. If you are not having fun after the first week or so, pick a new goal. The idea that you need to distract yourself or 'burn some time' is absolutely redicilous. Time is the most precious commodity in the world (without time, nothing is valuable), please don't waste it or distract it away. Ps. Goal becomes hobby after a while. |

I like to do brief computer-fasts occasionally, during which I spend time reading, listening to the radio, and just being generally quiter and stiller. But since I'm not the kind of person who can handle sustained mental exertion and large quantities of being alone, I usually try to spend a lot of time away from home when I do it. Just remember to be patient with yourself, and don't assume that boredom means you made a mistake. Consciously deciding to refuse passive entertainment is putting your brain in the position where it will need to retrain itself to adapt. Especially if you aren't extremely introverted. |
