Default Your Top 3 Goals?

Back almost 10-years ago I had set a list of 5 top goals to achieve with very specific timetables, some were short-term goals, others were longer term.

Since that time, I've redone this exercise at least 3 more times - the results are quite profound.

In short, I've found that I had achieved every single item on these lists - without exception.

But...I also realized it's been almost 2-years since my last update. Things have been happening so well and so fast in my life, I had put off coming up with the next set of goals...

Which got me to thinking, here are 3 of my top 5 goals...you guys care to share yours? I also think it's important to list WHY we set certain goals...

1. Get at least 6-hours of aerobic and 3-hours of weight training each week starting immediately. (Past goals were either weight or appearance based health goals which have worked - now it's a matter of sticking to a heart-healthy regime with a focus on prevention)

2. Meditate twice daily for 30-minutes starting immediately. (Earlier goals involved gradually building meditation skills to the level where I can practice twice daily - this is a goal to maintain the practice that has been so beneficial in my life)

3. Give $100K to charity by end of 2009. This goal will be facilitated by building my business to a $1M business giving 10% to charity in 2009. (Each day I imagine being able to give sizeable checks to charity - it's an ongoing dream of mine).

I have two other goals in the works around family and relationships...any goals you can share?

Jeff

Jeff, congratulations on achieving all your goals!

At the beginning of 2007, I wrote out about 2 pages titled "2007 Goals and Realizations." I reviewed it daily for about 2-3 months and somehow got caught up in the shuffle of life. I had some serious setbacks (sometimes to get from a 7 to a 9 or 10 you have to take a few steps back first) but I kept trudjing along.

I reviewed that list at the beginning of this year, almost having forgot about it. To my suprise, I had achieved every goal on that list! It was pretty amazing.

So here are a couple of my top goals:

1. Build my blog this year to a readership of over 10,000 subscribers. Use the medium of blogging to help improve others lives and share some of the wisdom I have learned along my path. Ultimately, I simply want to impact peoples lives for the better, in whatever way I can.

2. Find total balance in my health, relationships and work. This is a huge one for me, but I know with perserverance, I can do it.

I realized my focus is so much on building my blog that I've let a lot of my other goals slide. I'm very determined though, my one goal for 2008 is "liberation."

Hi Jonathan - thanks for sharing your story...

Sounds like you have a terrific plan for 2008!

I think the idea of putting your first goal in terms of 'touching lives' is a terrific way to word it...I'm convinced that if you were to put specific goals in place of helping 3 people in the next 6-months improve their life in a specific way (more money, better self confidence, overcome anxiety, etc...) that it would further focus you and drive you to put a plan in place to actually accomplish your goal - without a doubt!

What a powerful system that would make - combined with the changed lives you would not have to worry about the liberation side of the equation.

Cheers...

Jeff

My first goal would be to be confident enought to publicly announce my 3 major goals. They define exactly who I want to be.

1. Start my own game development studio. This is an involved process and I'm not yet clear on whether me by myself releasing games counts as this goal being finished or if I should have X number of employees before this goal is finished. I'm leaning towards the release and sales of games as being finished. That way if its just me or if it is a group of people I can still finish this.

2. Release my first video game in June 2008.

3. I have a third but I don't feel it is appropriate to post from work as it is work related. I never know how much those IT guys can (and do) see . So I'll give my 4th.

4th. Leave a lasting impact on this world we live in. I don't like the state of the USA and I don't like where it is headed. As steve has pointed out there are alot of darkworkers leading and I believe its time we have some lightworkers step up to the plate. Men and Women of integrity leading would be a positive step in the right direction. So what I'm going to do is 2 fold. First I'm going to be a leader. And second I'm going to help raise up fellow lightworkers and build them up into leaders.
