Default Thanks everyone! Small consistent steps in the right direction really pay off!

Wow.

Since I joined up to help my school website in high school I've wanted to be seen as a "computer guru."

Today, an Operations Manager at my work put a label on my desk after I installed their label making software for them. It read "David Kaminski - IT Guru" and it hit me.

Five years after creating my own "business" where I fixed peoples computers and made little websites and did networking and training and troubleshooting for small businesses and residential customers, I've got what I was looking for. I also volunteered as a Webmaster at my high school, took many CBT courses regarding web design (Flash, Dreamweaver, ASP, ActionScript, etc.) and networking and administration (CCNA, MCSA, A+, etc.)

I'm 20 now, and I'm here! It's amazing, I walk into work with a smile on my face every day!

Just a little thank you to everyone for helping me get where I wanted to be! Now to set a new goal!

I was blessed with a great family and supportive friends, but it really seems to be all about finding somehting you like and doing it to help others!

I've also found, the more things I like/love, the happier I am.

WHAT?!!!??????? You are twenty years old?!?! I am really, really surprised.

You speak with the grace, poise, eloquence, and connection that belie your age.

Wow.

Next step? I'm thinking

-master the position I'm in
-make the IT department a thing to be admired (security, automation) for a low cost (open source, unused assets on hand in the server software)
-some outside training to master the software involved (MCSE, CCNP)

Should take about 5 months. Then I'll try to optimize maintenance to close to nothing.

Great, Dave! That's amazing. What an accomplishment. I also didn't realize how young you are...you come across with maturity. I'm a tad jealous .

Excellent work my friend, I was going to say 'keep it up' but from the looks of it you don't need more encouragement.
