| I'm a person who's all about 'challenges' ranging from learning a language in ten days to calling it quits on the sugary snacks, but nothing I've done so far has really been practical, and I want to change that now. I'm planning on learning at least one programming language in one month, but I'll most likely end up learning two or three. I'm planning on doing ten hours of learning per school day. My parents are going to give me one month without regular schoolwork for this (I'm sixteen years old.) At the end of one month, I'll take on one or two freelance projects in the languages I've learned, and I'll see where I'm at. I'm here for advice on the challenge itself right now. The point of the challenge, besides the obvious, is for it to be good reading. It has to be interesting because I'm going to blog about it. I'm wondering if I'm going too easy on myself, if I should set an amount of money I have to earn, or if ten hours would just be too much work (I did ten hours per day when I tried to learn Korean, but that was only ten days.) I plan to learn: Html (doesn't even really count) PHP and MYSQL Perl And I'll start blogging in a few days Nitroviper PS: I put this post in this section because it is a personal development project, and I don't really need technical advice. |

| At such an intense level (10 hours per day is intensive for me) you should able to get to an advanced level at HTML and PHP. I would advise to learn either PHP or Perl first because they are stuctured similar (as most programming languages are). But don't expect to be a pro after one month, there is much depending from experience and this trial-and-error thing. |
