Default Update: Wrecking the Habit of Forum Procrastination Crazy Success

20ish days ago I posted a thread that I was going to KILL MUTHA****ING MURDER the habit of forum Procrastination.

Here's a testimony of what happened:

First of all my productivity freakin' skyrocketed.
Completely nuts.
Its amazing what a great motivator boredom is.

I felt a ON mode 24/7 and that ain't a bad thing.

For me forum procrastination turned to be the key.
Now in this time a few other things also happened (in this period):
I finally got really clear about inspiring and motivating goals.
I started the process of increasing my Discipline muscles.
I created a personal morning habit of:
-Get up at 5 AM
-Shovelglove for 15 minutes
-25 Burpee's
-A Herbalife Shake (go go energy )
-30 minutes meditation
-Quick cold shower
I swear by this morning routine, its freakin' awesome.
I am getting my exercise, my nutrition and the combination of meditation/cold shower is absolutely nuclear.
I started up the GTD system, although still incomplete and not entirely running smoothly yet its still making a clear difference in productivity. I am planning to update this system completely again this Friday. Its in need.
More aware of my nutritional habits, they have been slipping since I regularily stopped exercizing (no more 3x soccer practice+1x match). I'm on a pretty good track right now, still need to walk more regularily and I occasionally slip up. Still its a night and day difference.
I created a Glory map with:
-My goals
-My value's
-What am I gratefull for?
-Action Lists
I review this on a daily basis, usually multiple times. Which reminds me, any other suggestions to put into this?

My Goals:
- Earn 1000 euro's per Month with Herbalife
- Move out towards Utrecht
- Get propedeuse current education (pass one class) so I can study Biology at the University of Utrecht next year.

So what have been my results:
- Increased income
Out of no where (hehe perhaps there really is some truth to this LOA thingie) the bar I work called me and scheduled me A LOT for the upcoming weeks. This is some nice extra cash that I can use.
On top of that I now also have two Herbalife customers who are very enthusiastic.
Then once again out of nowhere I got 230 euro's back from the insurance.
So yeah perhaps LOA or perhaps coincidence, I have no clue lol. Whatever I'm doing though; its working.
- Studied hard for to get my propedeuse, I made a lot of progress here in that I understand stuff now instead of thinking;
Well I know the formula's, I'm decent at math so I'll propably be alright.
Now I know the formula's, know how to use them and know the theory surrounding them. Mucho better. And I still have 20 days to prepare (I'm on a countdown timer )
- A lot of other small stuff that has been laying around has gotten finished. my room is now freakin' awesome. Its my Command Centre. My Home Base.
- I implemented many parts of GTD, the one thing thats bugging me at this point is that my filing system is still complete crap and some papers are starting to pile up. I still need to get this in order. Other then that I'm loving the action lists/project lists and the heavy use of my agenda. On top of that because of GTD I made my Glory map and this is proving most usefull.
- Herbalife progress has been steady as well, I now have two customers which is going absolutely great.
- I've been to a open day at Utrecht University. Got back all excited about this, glorious times ahead.
- On top of that tomorrow I have a meeloopdag (?? follow students around and follow there classes day ??) which is going to be awesome as well.
- Oh yeah, also got a library pass. This worked out pretty good from one perspective and horrible from another lol. I refound my love for reading fantasy novels. Which is good. I also started reading about philosophy which is even better (damn interesting). The downside is that the past three days I've spend reading pretty much non-stop, I got my hands on a fantasy trilogy. Luckily no major projects got in danger, none of my minor goals either. I've now got some small work I need to catch up on, this will be done on Friday. From now on I'll get myself back on track and I'll be more carefull with the fantasy novels lol.
- Lowered my fat% from 16% to 12% in about 3-4 weeks, my muscle mass also increased by 1.5%. Couldve been much better since I 'sinned' for about a week or 2 which hurt my progress in this department. I'm not that worried though, I'll be starting rowing practice in two weeks which should significantly help. On top of that starting tomorrow I'm getting back hardcore into this.

In short:
Lives good.

Good Job
I'll most likely post a long LONG thread sometime tomorrow where I talk about how I am doing, how I did this and why. That sort of thing.

Keep in mind I've been reading about PD for the past 14 months or so. Only the past month I've really started applying the idea's and technique's I've learned.

The trick is in the action not the knowledge.

How the hell do you make yourself take a cold shower? I've tried it before and it's sooooo painful.

Do you like swimming in cold pools?

I think most of us expect a shower to be warm. So it's not the temperature so much (since we can easily swim in a cold pool) but the expectation. I've tried making the shower a little cooler each day for a few days and that seems to work. I've never gone ice cold, but maybe give the method a try?

lol this is how I do it.

Start:
Moderately cold, slightly below normal temperature.
Do the washing and everything.
Now step out of the stream of water.
Proceed to lower the temperature slightly.
Let the water quickly splash over my legs and arms.
Then my torso and finally my head.
Rinse repeat.
When its getting colder I just do torso/legs/arms to avoid a headache and make it easier.
At first the coldest setting is almost unbearable, after you've done it for a month then once I did the routine above its not a issue anymore.

Takes a few minutes but cools down the body without giving it to much of a cold shock.
Wakes me up like crazy and I always feel completely energized when I'm done.

Tomorrow I'll start writing on a BIG series of how I did all of this.
At first I was planning to just put it in one post but just a rough draft has already produced so much that it doesn't fit into one post. In order to break it up for people so its digestable I'll probably post a part every day.
I'll probably end up posting the first part tomorrow, most of the time when I start writing these monstruous things I can't help myself but finish it. I'll set apart 2-3 hours of time for it so get ready for a true monster piece (as in huge, you guys can be the judge about the quality).

Its mostly to get all of these concepths clear and out of my head, in the mean time it can't hurt to contribute a bit as well.

Not cutting off the forum is important, but to keep in mind the principle "How you start the day is how you end the day".

If you start your day first thing in the morning with email and forum, it's guaranteed that you'll keep it all day like this and you'll ask yourself why you didn't finish anything important.

This is true for eating too, if you start your day with a healthy meal, you won't cheat the consequent meals. It's like an investment you made.

dannilelo -- thank you so much for your post. That is such a simple concept and makes so much sense. During the workweek, I will experiment with holding off on personal email and forum checks until a lunchtime break or later. Life just gets better and better
