Hello, I have been reading articles on the main page for quite a while now, ever since I found out about a little thing called Lucid Dreaming, however only in the last few days have I found this forum. I am planning on starting a 30 day challenge for the following goals starting on 9th March (tomorrow) and updating it every day with my success and/or failure. I hope you can find it interesting. Here are a small number of goals for this month. I may add some more next month etc 1) Become a early riser I want to get up at 6:15 every morning, I would normally get up at 7:30 on weekdays and sometime really late on weekends. I am going to use some of this extra time to study. Later on I may move this time back to 5:45 or 6:00 2) Exercise I am going to exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes a day - not including when I play tennis. 3) Learn how to Lucid Dream I have been on and off Lucid Dreaming for 4 years now and finally I want to get into it more deeply. I am going to keep a dream journal every night in the first month or do something else dream related every day, and see where it goes from there. 4) Study Chinese I have always wanted to learn a second language, and I know it is quite a big deal. I have always tried to start learning chinese, I am going on holiday there later in the year, plus I just have a general interest in learning Chinese (Mandarin) I will be listening to audio tapes (I have always listened to podcasts on my Ipod) and study more in-depth in the morning, this is what I will be doing in the extra hour or so I have because of becoming a early riser. Thanks for reading, will post my results for Day 1 tomorrow. |

Ok, even though it is just the afternoon here I have just finished a worksheet on Chinese, having listened to the podcast while exercising. Also I managed to get up at 6:30, just. 1) Become a early riser COMPLETE This one was quite hard, but I am sure I will get used to the idea, I did not really do much in the morning however which will need to change tomorrow. 2) Exercise COMPLETE I managed 30 minutes of weight training using a routine recommended by a friend, I wonder how long I will keep that up though 3) Lucid Dreaming COMPLETE Woo! I still managed to remember almost two dreams, despite not keeping a dream journal in over 5 months, lots of progress to be made! I did the best today here. 4) Learning Chinese COMPLETE I listened through one podcast (lesson 2) a couple of times when I was exercising and then completed a worksheet that I have after I got home. Easier than yesterdays lesson. By the way, I do not actually intend on doing a lesson a day if they get much harder maybe one every two days, or three? Overall it went as expected, I am going to use the extra time in the morning to study though, also set my alarm back to 6:15 |

Congratulations Phoenix! I wish you luck as you continue. And, I notice that even in your day 1 report of your progress, you express self-doubts about whether your success will continue. I encourage you to let go of that urge to judge your successes with a future-mindset. None of us can predict the future. Just let yourself enjoy the success you had for THAT day, and don't worry about whether it's an accurate indicator of your success for TOMORROW. Let tomorrow's track record speak for itself. When we get stuck in that kind of predictive judgement, we risk creating negative self-fulfilling prophecies. In other words, if you don't believe you'll be able to continue that success, you're probably right. But, if you believe you WILL continue it...then you're probably right too.

Good luck with you on your 30 day challenge! A week ago I made a 30 day challenge to focus my thoughts on my intentions for at least 20 minutes a day. I'm having great success so far, wish you the same. =)

Thanks for the advise, I will bare that in mind. I did not mean to be like that anyway, I will believe I can do it from now on. Also, thanks for the support, and good luck with your 30 day challenge! Anyway todays results (Day 2) 1) Become a early riser NO This was harder than yesterday, mainly because I stayed up way to late. I will have to read before sleep as recommended on the main page of this website. 2) Exercise COMPLETE 30 more minutes of exercise done today, and I also found a time in which saves a bit of time, which I will do everyday. 3) Lucid Dreaming COMPLETE 1 Dream today, for anyone who has a interest in Lucid Dreaming please just say, if not its great and some should consider Lucid Dreaming. 4) Learning Chinese COMPLETE Not much to say here, same as Day 1. Thanks for the support, more results tomorrow! |

Phoenix, Great work, be careful though that you don't overload yourself with too much early on. I prefer to chunk things down into smaller pieces. It can be great to start a new life change with lots of things but easier to drop one of those spinning plates.. Brian |
