Question Need an advice

Hello!

I have the problem of the following content. I am 17 years old and currently taking AS levels in college (I live in UK and basically this is my first year in college (that is 1 more left)). The thing is we already have to think about what to do in the near future, i.e. whether to go to uni or not. And that's VERY hard for me. I cannot decide what my interests are, which career path will be 'right' for me. And know, having read some Steve's articles, I am even in doubt whether it is worth going to uni. For example, Steve's live experience (well, as I see it)... he went to uni, got 2 degrees, but he does completely different thing now from what he has learnt. A lot of people go to uni, spend there 3-4 years, start working and only then realise that they need a change, they prefer something different.

I even do not know clearly what I want from my life yet... But I want to do something exciting NOW, not in the future, when I will finish uni, get job (i.e. will have money as I do not have any now) and will have possibilities to do with my life what I want to. It seems for me that now I am in a kind of trap, a route which I have to follow until the end (as majority of people does) - finish college and probably go to uni. I hope you understand what I mean.

Has anyone ever experienced the same feeling/situation as I do now? What can you suggest? Do I go to uni? If not, what do I do instead? are there any ways of finding my true interest? Please have your say as I am VERY confused.

Thank you for your attention.
Dimitry

I think that going to a Uni can help you decide what you want to do with your life. Going to the University can help you discover your true interest. There are so many possibilites out there, and one of the best ways to learn about them is by going to the Uni.

Also going to a University can help open up many new options for you to follow, options that you may not have even thought of yet This allows you to have more choices, more possibilites, in life.

I am 34 years old and did not really start figuring out what I want to do with my life until just a few years ago. I think the pressure to have it all figured out by the time you get out of high school is un-natural... people are not widgets that can be created in the people factory according to a schedule.

Whatever you decide to do as far as going to a university or not, I think it is most important that you just look at it as living some life and not necessarily as a specific step towards a specific career. If you open the channels between your soul, mind, body and The Universe (the grandest uni of them all), you should find your path becoming more clear as you go, and eventually you'll experience more pronounced moments of knowing which way you'd like to steer your journey.
