Default Reviving an old thread

I've always kind of dreamed of becoming a doctor. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering, but would love to take my prereqs and write the MCAT. I would probbably have to go to school in the Carib though, since my GPA is way too low. Are you still planning on becoming a doctor?

I always wish I could go back and change my mindset that was not so functional at that time.

If you want to become a doctor then you need to have an internal passion for it and not follow the pressures of the surroundings

Other than that?

I wish you good luck

Go for it. It would be a lie to say it's easy, but nevertheless, it's a worthwhile goal.

As for me, I'm supposed to be graduating right about now, however, I sort of abandoned school back in December. I didn't drop out. I abandoned it.

I actually took the MCAT at the end of second year (so that would the summer before last summer.) Flunked verbal as a lot of people do, but otherwise quite good. So, I took it again last summer, the end of third year. I actually did quite well, beating my old scores in all sections and ending up with a 36S or something.

So, why haven't I applied yet? Well, personal issues hit hard starting second year, and as a result, I deferred four of my third year exams. I wrote three of them, but due to the same issues, had to defer the last one once again to this past December. Grades have been slipping, though to be honest, they're not that bad. I would've applied in September, but once again, those issues stopped me, until they finally culminated in me abandoning school in December.

I suppose I'll go back towards this goal, but that MCAT score is only good for a few years, before I have to retake it again to renew my scores. Then again, silly issues aren't exactly solved yet.

I am now back in college for the second time, on a med/nursing track. I don't think I can find the $$$$$$ for med school. I'm looking at finishing the RN requirements, then getting a Masters in nursing or medicine.

It's an excellent field to be in. No matter the recession or where in the country you want to live, people always need health care.
