| I think it's one of those things that is person-specific. Some people might say it's not sensible to jump out of a plane with only a backpack stuffed with Nylon to keep you alive. Others might think it's perfectly sensible for some reason or other (obviously i'm not one of them, because i can't think of a reason, but people do it so there you go!) Perhaps being sensible is simply not doing anything that could win you a Darwin award.

The answer to the thread title is that (of course) the characteristic that makes a person sensible is: sense. I imagine you want something more than a dictionary definition here, but I'm not sure what you're after. Perhaps if you told us why you're seeking this information? P.S. Dvorak is better than Qwerty.

| No idea what the OP meant exactly (more clarity please, I'm stupid Quick dictionary definitions: sen·si·ble (sns-bl) adj. 1. Perceptible by the senses or by the mind. 2. Readily perceived; appreciable. 3. Having the faculty of sensation; able to feel or perceive. 4. Having a perception of something; cognizant: "I am sensible that a good deal more is still to be done" Edmund Burke. See Synonyms at aware. 5. Acting with or exhibiting good sense: a sensible person; a sensible choice. You are probably talking about 5. acting with or exhibiting good sense: a sensible person; a sensible choice. Does this mean sensible choice=logical or reasoned choice? No idea, not that knowledgable about english lol.

| I think being 'sensible' is a mix of being grounded, intelligent, and objective. You can meet high strung, "immoral" people who could be considered sensible by asking them the right questions.
