| Hi, I have been a long time lurker on this forum. Yesterday I signed in into the forum and resolved to start , full throttle, on the road to a great and fulfilling life. I'll pickup few habits and goals every month and try to post my progress here every day. Here are the Goals (Habits) I resolve to fulfill in the month of Feb ( Actually starting tomorrow): 1. Getup at 6:00 AM Every Morning, no excuses. 2. Complete C Primer Plus Book 3. Exercise every morning ( Actually it's tied to 1 above.. if I can getup at 6:00 .. I can exercise) 4. Complete Tony Robbins' Person Power - II 5. Listen to Paraliminal: Self Esteem Super Charger. Every day. 6. Plan/Map next day the night before. Make a list of things to do. Resolve to finish at least three MITs(Most Important Task) of the day. ===== I'll post my results every morning , hopefully between 6:00 and 6:30AM. Wish me luck! Hacker |

| Great, Hacker! Welcome to the de-lurkified world, and I hope you have a great time here. Now that you've got us to hold you accountable for these goals, I hope you gain new strength and resolve in your efforts. Best wishes in them! Angela |

| Good luck! Just think of the person you'll become once you achieve all of your resolutions.

| Go for it! Personal Power II is a great product. Learn from my mistakes: - Make sure that you set aside an hour per day for doing the exercises. - Listen to a cd at home. not on your way to work. This way you're uninterrupted, can make notes, and really important make the exercise right away. You will forget it otherwise (after the second week). - Make notes. You will forget alot of the things otherwise. Especially as sometimes he goes on too fast. - Instead of the paraliminals you might listen and do the "hour of power"/Daily magic cd of his Get The Edge product. It's a great thing to do while commuting and is a kickstart for your day. Or just listen to it while exercising. - Have a look out at your local fleah markets, i found a few t.robbins products there from ex-overachievers ;-) You'll save some bucks. good luck

| Thanks a lot for the motivation folks! Herbalist, I am trying to learn C programming not C++, thanks for the recommendations anyway. C++ turn will come. :-) My plan is to become good at C in the next 6 months. Here are my plans to achieve that: 1. Complete C primer Plus ( From basic to intermediate) 2. then C K&R ( Best C book ) 3. Expert C programming book. 4. Understand code in my office and try to fix bugs. 5. Take a dev. project Aicon, thanks for the tips. I agree listening to PP-II in car or casually doesn't help much. Sitting down and taking notes and seriously doing exercises is the way to go. I'll try to find Hour of Power CD. I am doing Paraliminals to boost my self esteem. ========== Now first positives from yesterday : Yesterday was a superb day. 1. Wake up at 6:00 ---> YES 2. Learn C ------------> YES . Completed chapter 4. Chapter 1 .. 3 I did before. 3. Exercise ------------> YES. 4. Personal Power -II --> YES. Did Day 5. 5. Paraliminal ----------> YES 6. Plan and execute ----> YES =========== Today is another story. Yesterday I made a mistake and had a tea at 8:00 PM, which messed up my sleeping pattern. I couldn't sleep until 2:00 AM. So I woke up at 9:00AM today. Tonight I am thinking of doing the following to get a good sleep: 1. Do a long walk in the evening 2. No tea/coffee after 5:00 3. Take a bath with warm water 4. No movies/internet after 9:00. and be on bed by 10:00. I am still resolved to complete other 5 goals of today. :-) ================================= Cheers! H |

| Hacker, I confused your book with "C++ primer" by Lippman, I guess PM me if you have questions or need some help, anyway. And let me warn you about K&R. Personally, I don't think it's a good book to learn C. They've written it for their colleagues (as Stroustrup has written his C++ book), who had already mastered the concepts of programming, and just had wanted to write programs, using that "new" language. Nevertheless, the book is interesting, especially for Unix programmers, as it opens some not commonly known details. Deitel & Deitel have also got a book "C How To program" |

| Thanks Herbalist. I'll be doing K&R after I finish C Primer Plus, so I hope I won't be lost. Yesterday's status: 1. Getup at 6:00 AM Every Morning, no excuses. YES 2. | Remember to stay consistent. I personally find it hard to do so mostly during the weekend because of how things change (like no work for example) but if you can keep consistent then you'll succeed. Just remember the phrase "CONSISTENT PERSISTENCE" Good luck! |

| Good luck and stick to it. Have you implemented GTD into your life yet?

| Wow, Hacker, very nice so far. Be careful not to be hard on yourself. Even Steve Pavlina didn't try to change so many habits at once. In the past, Steve has recommended that one not try to change more than 1-3 habits at once otherwise some inevitably fall through the cracks. I've seen this in my own life. It's ironic though. Some of our goals are identical. Lately I've been focusing on being an early riser and exercising (did it this morning). So let's both continue to meet our goals. Would you mind if I posted here at 6.00 as well? |
| |||
| Thanks Andreas! Please do post your early wake up progress here. Together we can motivate each other. Sam, thanks for your kind words. Today was a great and productive day! Woke up at 6:00AM Sharp. Had a good Run.Completed my top priority items on my ACTION list by noon. Did PP2 day 15. Did some C exercises. I still need to do Paraliminals. As a bonus.. today I meditated for 30 minutes in the morning. Hopefully I'll cement these habits in the coming days. Thanks! H |

| Good deal! Yes meditation is so helpful. Another habit I plan on adding to my life. Well, I was awoken by my backup alarm today at 6.30. Apparently my iPod's alarm wasn't loud enough to wake me this morning like it was last morning. Then I noticed that this computer was off. Apparently the power went out in the night. I'm going to set my backup alarm to 06.00. Off to exercising! p.s. what time zone are you in, hacker? GMT? |
| |||
| Good Morning! I am in PDT timezone. My thoughts when alarm went off today: Sub-conscious: Damn it , it's too cold today. Plus you have some strains from yesterday's exercise. Sleep for another hour. Conscious: Don't be a loser, get up , enjoy a cup of hot tea and study for 30 minutes. Sub-conscious: Oh! yes! What was I thinking. :-) It's raining outside today. I'll workout at home. Have a great day! H |
| |||
| Wow it's cold this morning! -29C! Not real comfortable right now.... anyway g'morning. |
| |||
| All the best. For some reason this is a strangely compelling post, even though I don't have the faintest idea what C is and why it should be so important to master it.
