Download Audio books

For some time I'm looking for a website where I can download Audiobooks and pay with PayPal.
(I lack to trust paying by credit card online)

Till now I did not find anything that sells interesting books.

Hope you have the solution.

You can find some great content in the iTunes store (available using the iTunes software). Audible and Nightingale Conant come to mind and I like Simon & Schuster Audio too.

If you're concerned about credit card security online, I suggest you to open a second account and request a credit card for that too. This is usually quite cheap at most banks. You only transfer as much funds as you actually want to spend so you don't have to use your main credit card number for online purchases and your money is safe.

Or, find stores which redirect your browser directly to a banks website to accept payment. This way the store won't be able to access your credit card information, they only get a receipt whether the transaction was successful or not. When making online payments, always look for SSL security (the address bar becomes yellow in your browser) and make sure to double check the domain of the site before entering any sensitive data (very similar domain names are used to spoof users). A good practice is to always start out by entering the store url manually and start from their main page, instead of clicking on links in e-mails, for example.

The problem with Audible is their proprietary music format. If you plan on listening to the books on your mp3 player, watch out that you've got an approved player or it wont work.

Also, my public library offers a large collection of free downloadable books. You should check your local library's website and see if they subscribe to Netlibrary.

Thanks for the heads up on audible format, I have always been drawn to ordering books from them, but I am an Ipod user so I don't think I will have any problems.

You won't have a problem. Audible actually sponsors a Mac related pod-cast (among a zillion of other things probably). They got a whole list of supported devices right here; http://www.audible.com/adbl/store/de...seBVCookie=Yes

Interesting to note that they've been bought by amazon for a whopping 300 million USD.
