| I guess Steve has an article on this somewhere, but here goes anyway. I'm interested in looking into two of my somewhat ingrained believes that may be limiting my financially...if not in life in general. The believes are that: I believe hard and dedicate work is the way you earn money. You get payed for the effort and hours you put into it. I feel having self-sustaining income or earning money from interests or stocks is somehow cheating. Old fashion working class mentality I guess. AND I have a hard time accepting assistance or relying on others. I want to (and do) stand on my own two feet and be independent of outside help. I feel guilty if someone does me a big favor, even when I have done twice as much for them in the past. I guess this believe is somewhat related to the first. These are two believes I probably should be changing if I want to attract more wealth into my life. I'm just not sure how. I'm pretty bad at fooling myself into believing something I don't really feel is true, so I'm unsure how I would go about trying on a new believe system. The first idea that comes to mind is that I could try and connect the new believes to something I currently hold true. Such as that if I find ways to earn money in disproportion to the hours I put into it, I could use some of that extra income to help others (charities etc) and spend more time working on projects that are important to me, but don't generate any income. How would you go about it? |

| Intelligent work is hard work and produces value. Time does not of itself produce value. This is why income for dummies (TM) is for many people a useless means of existence. You don't get paid for the hours you put in. You get paid for the value you create. This is the basis of all self-sustaining income - continuous value. This may or may not be a "better" or more "empowering" belief, depending on your perspective, but it IS definitely a more accurate belief. And isn't that the point of all beliefs - to really deepen our connection with reality? Empowering beliefs don't have to put you in a fantasy world. Empowering beliefs are usually more accurate representations of reality than disempowering beliefs. This is for the simple reason that empowering beliefs more accurately model human potential. Think of, say, a block of enriched uranium. You could pick it up (would be stupid to do so but you could) and throw it at someone and knock them out in the face. This is use of some of it's force and inherent qualities (hardness, mass, etc.). But can you really say you've unlocked it's potential? Could you say "Yes, it's potential is used up; it can't do anything more than it's already done." Does this make sense? Hell no - there's a lot more energy stored in the atomic bonds. These bonds are invisible but their effects are very noticeable. And very real. Empowering beliefs are the same way. Maybe invisible, maybe smaller, but very real - and probably more fundamental than the dismepowering beliefs covering them up. Keep plugging at it champ! |

| 2 things for your to consider People will give up their hard earned money only when they are getting and feel like they're getting value. So, just because you work hard does not mean you'll get money. Talk to anyone whos worked hard at starting a business that eventually went under. Focus on providing value. Steve has quite a few articles that talk about this. As far as accepting help from others... I'd say a good first step, would be to start helping others.... I'm sure you can think of something you could help others with.

| I too have felt that money can only be earned by self-sacrifice. If you're not sacrificing something to the point it hurts, then you're not relaly earning the money. Following that logic out, the only way I can become a millionaire is to near kill myself. Work like 100+ hours a week. This belief prevented me from making money at something I'm really good at (computers), which pays a lot better in favour of physical labour. I also felt good and happy around computers. Work isn't supposed to be happy or fun.
