Default I'm an ENFP, now what?

I just took the test described in this post: What is your personality type?

Really nice. I'm interested in this kind of thing. Then again, I'm interested in almost anything.

I'm an ENFP.

I started this thread seperately from the other thread to focus on just the ENFP type people. I know there are many ENFP types around, and hopefully they have experience or knowledge that can help other struggling ENFP's.

So: post your questions or answers related to ENFP here, please.

My 'problem':
As I've said, I'm interested in a great many things. I'm very interested in new things, but they can't hold my attention very long. The problem is: I'd really like to achieve something worthwhile, but I can seem to work on a project longer than a day (or maybe a few). I start, but I never finish.

Saidin, I don't know if your problem has anything to do with being an ENFP. But maybe you're a scanner? Scanner are people who are interested in many things. From what you describe, looks like you are one.

Have a look here: Renaissance Soul Life Design, there's a mini test. If you think you are such a Renaissance Soul, I highly recommend this book. It helped me a lot, there are practical tips in there about how to achieve something

That sounds more like a universal 'problem' that many people have, other than it being restricted to people who are just ENFP-ers.

The reason that you keep starting projects but never finish anything could be a plethora of things. Not motivated enough or don't see any valuable reason to carry out anything? You see failure before you begin? You become distracted with a new endeavor when you just begin your newest project? I think if you identify the real reason first, then you can take steps to make it so that you can achieve something "worthwhile" (whatever that might mean to you.) Good luck!

i'm an ENFP - on the plus side I am never bored because there is always something new and exciting attracting my interest.

The problem of not finishing things: If I make a verbal commitment to someone to do something I will do it, because I don't like letting people down, so I find the best way to get things done is to commit to doing them.

However I often overload myself because I am so enthusiastic about everything and because I don't like letting people down, I often get stressed because I overcommit.

A possible solution to overcommitting: - find a --TJ to keep you in line! I married an ENTJ and he does his best to keep me on the straight and narrow and stick to only a couple of things at a time. He reminds me of the number of hours in a day and that I have to say 'no' to a few things.

I'm actually doing a lot of work on myself at the moment to find my 'true north' so I know what fits in with that and what is just a pleasurable distraction.

There's nothing wrong with you! You're a swinger and a scanner* -- live it up! I second Rose of Cairo's recommendation of the book, "Refuse to Choose"; it will show you how society has been telling you that you *should* work on projects for longer than a few days, and you *should* finish what you start, and you have to do that in order to achieve something worthwhile, and all that hoooey. Balderdash! Read the book, and see how perfect and wonderful you are, exactly as you are!

Hi Rose,

I answered yes on all but one of those questions in the quiz. I ordered the book.

Angela,

Thanks for the motivational talk. I'll read the book, stop mentioning it already.

Holistic Star,

I married an ENTJ, too! We've been in the best relationship ever. It always amazes me how much she can get done once she decides to work on a project... I really need to read that book.
