Default Brain Makeover

I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, but a few things I’ve seen recently have really got me to thinking. I saw a PBS special about the brain the other day; in one segment a young veteran who had sustained war injuries was able to regain control of his muscles through strenuous and repetitious exercise. The point made was that the brain is a powerful and malleable instrument, and most of us aren’t aware of the potential. I’m still somewhat young (depending on your definition, lol), but I’m combing the web for more related studies and tips on how to best exercise my cognitive skills.

There have been lots of good books published on this topic. Instead of combing the web for information on neuroplasticity and brain enhancement, I'd recommend getting a good book from amazon.

"Making a Good Brain Great" ( Amazon.com: Making a Good Brain Great: The Amen Clinic Program for Achieving and Sustaining Optimal Mental Performance: Books: Daniel G. Md Amen ) isn't a terrible start. I thought it was a decent book and it includes some interesting studies on neuroplasticity -- i.e. it shows just how malleable our brain is, and how we can use that to our advantage.

I would recommend "Brain Building in Just 12 Weeks," written by Marilyn Vos Savant, the woman who scored the highest ever on the IQ test. Just look it up on Amazon or wherever you buy your books.

I too have a fascination with this subject and have come up with some theories of my own that work very effectively in predicting behavior and pretty much completely eliminating emotional turmoil and struggle.

You can read about it in this Whitepaper. I'd be interested to get your opinion.

I've read Nick's whitepaper and I highly recommend it to everybody. It just makes sense.
