Default Personal development break

I've been reading and trying all these stuff for about a year now. And it helped me a lot. My life changed, my perspective changed. Also I found my religion, i found the law of attraction. It started to work for me.

But at the moment i'm kind of tired of this. I don't have desire for improvement that i had at the begining. I'm thinkin about a break, PD holidays. I'm not going to visit this forum, read books or articles till January. I must clear my head, everything has to settle down a bit.

Do you have any expirience, will this help?

Remember -- your practice is for you and what you can experience in the present moment. Striving and attainment mentality put your focus in the future, which is exhausting. It is possible to live in the now and still plan and work towards growth in the future.

Check my blog (link below) in a day or two...I'm finishing up a post on the ebb and flow of practice.

I do PD breaks myself, especially when I'm feeling overloaded with so much input and so many ideas. Last weekend Erin and I took a trip to Phoenix, and I told her, "Let's just have fun and not try to do anything growth-oriented this whole vacation."

Of course we still have growth experiences, but this PD vacation attitude opens the door to the unexpected. For example, we ate at vegan teahouse one night and were the only customers -- it was a Sunday night, and the teahouse was in a commercial district where everything else was closed. We hung out for an extra half hour just talking with the manager, telling him how much we loved the food and offering lots of ideas to grow the business and draw more customers. We also gave him ideas for taking the business online, since the premium, organic teas they carried were outstanding. Even when we don't try, we still end up in situations where we effortlessly find ways to help people grow.

Sometimes just allowing life to unfold for a while works wonders. It's like flowing down a river. Sometimes you need to paddle, and other times you can relax and let the current carry you.

I agree totally Steve. I think it is not so much of the PD stuff that's overwhelming, the stress may come from the pressure we have on our consciousness to practice and continuously be very aware of what the new learnings are, to absord, experiment and work it out.

Actually, when we allow ourselves to trust our subconscious mind, we can still be developing ourselves in areas where we never realise before and still help people to grow too.

It feels good to be carried by the current not knowing where we'll land up but still we know we are moving. I like this metaphor.

Default Why stop if it is working?

If you need a PD break, then you need to review your PD practices. What are you doing that should require you take a break? Do you plan to take a break from positive thinking? Are you planning to take a break from following your intuition? Or you just want to put planning and creating your life on hold for a few weeks?

Personal Development needs to be effortless, you need to grow it one step at a time. It needs to be second nature. Personal development works when it becomes part of you, you don’t take a break from breathing or drinking water. Why take a break from reprogramming your mind for success? Maybe you need a break from the books, classes and other things you could be doing.

January is a long time. Have you ever tried to take a break from working out? After one week you feel like you have not worked out in months, talk less of taking over a month off.

Steve might be able to afford taking time off personal development because he as been doing it for years, but you are only one year in. If you decide to go ahead with this break please get yourself a good affirmation or prayer that will help you remember all that you have learned in the last year, especially the law of attraction stuff. The affirmation does not have to be long it can be one word. Or find a piece of jewelry or card that will keep your goals and dreams on your mind.

Good luck and please note I say the above out of experience, even if you do take a break, I will always remember to send a good thought your way.

Cheers

Hi Tabs, i know what do you want say. But my picture is not clear enough now. I will only meditate in this 50 days off. Sometimes i feel like i'm doing everything absolutely right and sometimes i think that i'm wrong all time. I will try to do all these things i've learned but i'm not going to learn anything new till new year. I want to see what are my mistakes and i will watch for them but i will not search for new ideas for my growth. Simply, i want to see how did this change my life.

In the begining i've had an idea, then i've implemented that idea and now it is evaluation time.

Well, I think he means stopping intending things mostly...
If you go intending all the time, you're never satisfied...
But maybe we need to carry always a goal on our heads or so...
"If you had all you want there would nothing left for you to dream about"

We'll have to discuss "too much" intending or so.

I am glad to see that you will take the time to analyze your current PD practises and review life in general. I commend you on that, it looks like a step in the right direction.

Remember to see guidance when you need and take care of yourself.

Cheers
