10% inspiration 150% transpiration, thats what geniuses do, i think, they work very much towards a goal without giving up, so its not what you think, its what you do that makes you a genius. What exactly do you think right now?, are you thinking about what people think about you because of the things you have written?, what do you think that people might think about you?, that you are stupid?, insecure?, not intelligent enough?, not wise?, naive?, an immature child?, what is it?, maybe all of those?, after you aknowledge it try using EFT, i assure you that each feeling will go away after a few rounds and youll not think about them anymore, do like this, it takes only a few seconds: Tap the karate chop point and say this three times: Even though people might think im naive(or something that bothers you) im willing to accept myself. And then start tapping, i recommend you this site to see the videos to do it quickly Tapping.com - Free EFT Videos - Emotional Freedom Technique, and the oficial site EFT Provides Impressive Health and Emotional Freedom--New Discovery Often Works Where Nothing Else |

Unless you really did mean the evaporation of water from plants as a way to be a genius ;-) But I think you are right, I think that genius is essentially a reasonable intelligence+lots of effort. | |

I don't know if you understand german, but some months ago I wrote an article in my german weblog just about this topic. Genie sein To sum it up a bit, I wrote that a genius should love to experiment a lot, should love to learn everything possible in its special topic, and should not fear failure. I wrote about enthusiasm and open mindedness. Finally I made a reference to the series Dr House (its just House in the US I think), that he is a genius by sticking to just the most complicated cases in his career. He does not like cases that he can solve easily but loves to boggle his mind for many nights just to solve the hardcore cases that seem impossible to every other professional in his area. Whereas he would never admit it. That was my opinion to being and becoming a genius. |

If you want to become a genius then i think your halfway there. Although, that said, it depends if you're in love with the vanity of being a genius or in love with certain areas of academia e.g. maths. Two very different things. Transpiration. |

| I'd also go for 1% and 99% as Einstein said. Not understanding percentages is no way to start out as a genius... It's a valid point though, often when people ask this question they're looking for someone to say "oh just do this: (insert easy step)" and then they are a genius. Unfortunately hard work is the only way really. |

Light, please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're in denial about what the problem really is, and just how bad it really is. You need to look at CBT (Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy) or EFT or something. The emotional turmoil inside you isn't going to get any better unless you do something about it. PLEASE, HELP YOURSELF. I know how it can feel like admitting to your worst fears about yourself to actually admit that there is a problem and that you need to do something about it, but you're only human, and that's okay. It's okay to be human and fallible. It's okay to admit to being in trouble. It's not so bad to admit that you've lost control, that you're not perfect and can't possible ever be. Genius is a process. It is a natural method that the mind uses in order to solve a problem. Everyone has genius with them, it is only a matter of letting it out. If your self-image is one of a "genius", that process will be easier to develop and use in practice.

I've always regarded myself as a genius. I still do. I think this belief helps motivate me to actually do genius things. Maybe you could just pretend to be a genius, it'd probably work just as good.

Why don't you figure out what your genius is? http://www.ongenius.com/ I've got this book (it's on Steve's recommended listing) and highly recommend it. I discovered my genius with the book, and I am making a career change as we speak using that insight into myself. You can read the first chapter of the book for free on the above website. You might also like Steve's review of same. |
