I was thiniking of kicking of the new year with a personal development workshop. The last workshop I did was the Landmark Forum last January and prior to that was Tony Robbins in November '06 so I'm well over due. I got am email regarding Jack Canfield's workshop called Creating Your Ultimate Life. It's for 2 1/2 days at a beautiful seaside resort in sunny San Diego. It's in February and I live in Chicago so just to escape the harsh winter weather is an excuse enough for me to attend, lol. My question is if any of you have attended Jack Canfield's workshops before? If not what do you guys know about him? Do you think it will be worth the time and expense away from work? The only reason I'm asking is b/c I spent alot of money and took 4 days off from work to attend the Tony Robbins workshop and I came back feeling worse then before I left! I don't know how that's possible but I just noticed that my life took a turn for the worse. I felt bad energetically, I wasn't paying my bills, not eating right, not keeping my place clean, etc. I don't know why I didn't improve from that workshop, even though I learned some things and became more aware of the improtance of good nutrition. I think b/c I tend to resisist change. I just don't want to fly all the way down to San Diego and have the same result. I want to change, grow and improve my life. I'd appreciate any and all comments. BTW, here's a link to Jack's workshop: Jack Canfield's Creating Your Ultimate Life in 2008 |

I believe that change occurs within the mind. No matter how motivational or inspirational a speaker, article, book, tape is - it cannot cause permanent change. I'd recommend these books: As a Man Thinketh by James Allen (pdf here: As A Man Thinketh -- FREE eBook -- timeless classic by James Allen) Advanced Formula for Total Success by Robert Anthony (http://www.applying-the-law-of-attra...talsuccess.pdf) 7 Habits by Covey (1st and 2nd parts of the book especially) and Think Right Now.com audio cds. The reason why I recommend these books is because they all deal with changing from the inside-out. As a man thinketh, so is he. Your daily self-talk, since the day you could think, has programmed your subconscious. You act out the beliefs that are stored in your subconscious. The key to change is changing those ingrained belief systems. Last edited by z1freeride; 01-02-2008 at 09:14 PM. |

Z1Freeride, thanks for your response. I definitely agree that I need to change my inner before any change occurs in the outer. I am realizing how powerful one's beliefs are, whether conscious or subconscious, and how they can completely shape an individual's life. I am currently rereading The Street Kid's Guide to Having It All by John Assaraf from The Secret. In the section of the book about changing your belief systems he talks alot about how powerful affirmations are as well as visualization. But besides affirmations, I am looking for something more powerful and longer lasting. For some reason, I don't think repeating to myself that I am rich or confident or fearless, etc, will help me be that. I guess I just don't have any faith in that maybe b/c I've never really done it. But even then, it just seems like it would take too long to change your beliefs that way, kinda like trying to chop down a tree with a dull ax rather then a power saw...know what I mean? I went to a lecture back in November at my local IONS chapter on another modality to help change one's subconscious belief called Psych-K which stands for psychological kinesiology. Do you or anyone else know anything about it or have any experience with it? Here's a link to find out more about it: questions It's basically a form of energy psychology like EFT or TFT but supposedly with muh more dramatic and effective results. Any comments on the workshop? Do you think it's a waste of time then to go? I guess what I'm hoping for is to be exposed to that one thought or suggestion that will make a light bulb go off in my head and trigger me into massive action. But then again I went to Tony Robbins a bout a year ago and that didn't really do it so maybe this won't either. |

Also, I don't necessarily believe that affirmation repetition alone will cause change, though it is very important. I would add visualizing and emotionalizing (is that a word?) to the affirmation imprinting process (see ch. 6 and 7 in Robert Anthony's book. I provided the PDF). Anyway, that's just my opinion. Hopefully others chime in... anyway, whatever you do, best wishes! | |
