| Why do people have to make a new years resolution from something negative to positive? (Like Give up smoking). If they had that much willpower and wanted to change then surely they would have done that long ago? (and not wait for the earth to complete it's Georgian calendar orbit). I much prefer positive resolutions - like learning a new language, taking up a new sport etc. The fact that you are more likely to lose more weight by taking up a sport rather than having a resolution to lose weight is much more positive, it's better for your happiness to be positive too! | Dude I agree with you 100%. I look at new years as a day and not a way out or a motivational tool or a transformation. To me it’s January first and if I wanted to resolve whatever it is badly enough I would have done it a long time ago. |

| I agree with that, but also I find that the best way to eliminate a bad habit is to replace it with a good habit. I actually made a list of ten money-saving resolutions today for my blog, and my top one is to replace all my incandescent light bulbs with CFLs. |
