So my 2008 goal is going to be to ensure that what I need and want to do has some sort of priority in my life, at least some of the time, as opposed to being fit in wherever free time can be found in between the two full-time jobs of working/employment and mother/wife. I don't have the slightest idea yet of how I'm going to execute this--suggestions are welcome.
My sister has the same problem too. I suggested to her that she start off by maintaining a diary and writing something everyday - anything. The important thing is to make it a routine and then a habit. Once it becomes a habit, you have a personal time and space of your own. Then you can substitute or add other activities one by one.

yeah, thats why i say e.g. i want to learn Spanish this year but I actually set my mid-goals every week for this, 1 chapter of book per week etc. same goes with everything else i think, its what Steve wrote article about, instead of setting goals for a year set the area of primary focus and then divide and conquer! thats a powerful method both in programming and life.

My goals are:

-To move to a new city out of state. I think moving is a great idea. It enables people to make a fresh start in every area of their life. Coupled with an internal change it can be powerful and empowering.

-Health. My health and fitness have suffered in the last several years due to stress and poor habits. And if I want to achieve bigger goals further down the line, then the body must be healthy and strong because I take it wherever I go. Specific:

1. Eat only healthy, organic, vegan food BY December, 2008. (right now I am a vegetarian). So this will be a step-by-step process till December.
2. Fitness: I want to do resistance training and also enroll in a program like Yoga, pilates or tai chi. I won't start until at least June or so.

-Spiritual/ Mental. I want to feel good about myself. Increase my confidence. I want to change my thinking patterns to a more positive state. (already started working on this). From a 3/10 to a 7/10.

-Socializing. This is another goal. I want to create good friends that are on my vibrational frequency.

If I could describe 2008 in one word, It would be "Stabilizing".

Well, I think it is a little bit late to post here, but...

Well, I have 12 major goals, each one for each month, and some weekly, and daily goals here and there that are modified upon the situation acquires. Anyway, I designed them according to my needs and at what time I need them fulfilled. I also though of them in a way that the first ones become the basis for the next ones. So here they are:

1.- January: "Don't think twice."
I put this one as my front goal because I could certainly try to start a lot of nice habits, but if I doubted myself even for a second, then I wouldn't even start them, or I would disrupt them mid-way. This is also something that I use to make decisions. I think that the first impression that we have of something is almost always the most accurate one, so if you just stick to that first impression, then it is most likely that you will be dead-on with your decision.
2.- February: "Forethought."
What I mean on this one is that I should always think before-hand what I want to do, what I expect something to happen, and how I will prepare myself for it. I'm currently working on this one, and it is going truly well. Now I am not rushing in the mornings, and I am prepared for what we're going to see the next class, and so on.
3.- March: "Patience."
I put this one on third because after I achieved the instinct of acting without thinking, then I would need the instict of waiting for the fruits of my efforts. I believe that I have a lot of patience in some areas, but in others I becom truly, easily frustrated, so I decided this should be a priority.
4.- April: "Memory."
People tell me I have a blessed memory, and I do, but I get easily distracted, and while I have an amazing instant-memory, I lack somewhat in the long-term, but especially in the short-term. So my idea here is basically to work out best ways to not forget something that I learn two days afterwards.
5.- May: "Observation."
I put observation after memory, because in order to observe rightly I need to remember what I observed. I think that I often see things that many other people do not, that is in terms of how people behave in certain situations, but for example, I lack foresight on terms of their clothing, or I stumble on things I didn't see on the floor, ect.
6.- June: "Strategy."
I bet you're wondering why I added this one, when I had already forethought. Well, I consider forethought to be the planning of the next immediate move, whereas strategy is for me the planning of a whole set of moves. Like in Chess. You use forethought to be the next, most accurate move that you should consider to do, and strategy is the set of moves you're planning to checkmate your foe.
7.- July: "Quick thinking."
Now that I would have the insticts to plan ahead of every move I make, I just need to work on the best way to solve immediate, unexpected, problems in favor of my whole strategy.
8.- August: "Speak clearly."
I am afraid that I favor silence, body-language, or writing instead of using my voice. I am generally a slow-thinker, that is also why I decided to put quick-thinking before this one. I take time to put my ideas together, and I get frustrated that I don't get understood, which is also why I thought to put patience way up. Not to mention that my tongue becomes a mess quite frequently, so, yes, I thought that I should work hard on this one.
9.- September: "Don't be shy."
One of my greatest weaknesses is that I don't speak my mind. I'm already currently working on this one, passing to the front of the class to give a presentation, but on a more personal matter it is still hard.
10.- October: "Look your best."
In my introduction I stated that I have short hair, and I'm sometimes confused with a boy. Well, I dress mostly tomboyish, because I find it so much more easier to handle, but I think that if I really want a successful career I need to work on this one, and not be confused as a boy. And on other aspects other than clothing, I also mean it by looking and feeling myself the best way possible on the whole.
11.- November: "Etiquette."
I think this one is a little bit self-explanatory. But well, I do have good manners, yes, but I think that if I want to be a diplomat I need to have the best manners. I know that looking my best is part of etiquette, but I put them separately, because for me dressing-up is somewhat tiring. Which is actually funny, considering I am a girl, and I am supposed to be married to this kind of stuff, but I find it boring. Unless we were talking about cultural stuff.
12.- December: "Carry yourself as a warrior."
Finally, the last one! Anyway, I am not kidding on this one. I suppose that most of you have heard of the Japanese warriors, the Samurais, haven't you? Well, I practice Karate-Do, and I have learned the ways of the Bushido, which I still lack to practice on the whole. Well, what I mean by this is to become a warrior in and out. I am not saying that I have to fight, or have to carry weapons--no. What I mean is the exact opposite. I need to be in control of myself, and for that I need all of the qualities I mentioned above. When I have full control of myself; when I am disciplined enough to do anything I want without doubting myself, then I will be carrying myself as a warrior. There are many types of warriors, and all of them are the ones that achieve what they wanted to in their lives. I believe that to become a warrior is the ultimate goal for everyone.
My, I think I got a little carried away. But well, what do you think about it?

Post Yes Yes Yes!!

This may be a little late of a post to this, but what the hey -

I think what Greki did up there was terrific!! Write everything down ahead of time. Make yourself a checklist - whether it's daily, weekly, or monthly like Greki did.

The fun part is getting to check those things on your to do list off!

For me, if I really want to get things done, I'll make a list, and the next morning I'll hit it off - and when one is done, I'll refer back to my list, "what's next!!" and keep going. A lot of times I'll get all the things crossed off my list and I'll still have time. Then, I'll make a new list and try to get the 'extra' things done that day. I'll feel so productive! Don't you all just love that feeling?

I'm big on goal setting. It's important for us to have something to look forward to. Otherwise, we all just sit and wonder what we're doing and where we're going.

Whether it's moving to a new place, helping ourselves become more confident, have a busier social life, having more money, if we don't take small steps, (or ANY steps for that matter) how can we get to where we want to be?

Right now, think for a minute what it is that you want to have accomplished. And every day, or every week do at least one thing that gets you closer.. whether it's a phone call, researching about it, taking a class, sending a resume, calling an old friend.. whatever. Those who sit and do nothing are the ones who wonder why nothing ever 'happens' - and it's because you can't just wait for a sign or something to be given in your hands if you don't know what to do with it! So get out there, start small, and start getting those check lists going.

Default How the universe can help you achieve your goals

Hi All - I used to be a Project Manager in IT so goal setting, and achieving goals is something I've done a lot of in a business environment. I also qualified as a Life Coach to help people achieve their personal goals.

You may recognise or have experienced that there is something we haven't got quite right when it comes to achieving goals - we talk about 'wanting' to achieve our goals, yet bringing them into being seems a little bit harder to achieve, doesn't it?

I'm not saying I have the answer, because the real answer cannot be thought, planned or rationalised - our real power is in the experience, of being, of feeling, of knowing something deeper than our minds can fathom.

However, in the realm of thought, I have been researching and using a number of tools that will help me/and you to understand who we are, what we are here for, what our potential is, what energy is around us now, and what is coming up. I personally have found that numerology has helped me to align myself with goals that are true with the core essence of who I am - therefore, I am going with the flow, not against it, and far more likely to get to my desired 'location'. I say 'location' in quotes because there is no such thing as a location 'over there', we only have here and now, so we are really talking about alignment within ourselves in the present moment. It is in this moment, that the potential for achieving our goals exist.
