Default Help me do my apartment layout.

I HOPE that I get the apartment that I want.
A REALLY nice studio apartment.

But I'm having a little problem placing the things I have, theres not much space. I'm a little unfamiliar with home decorating. I want this to look like a home.

Okay, no further explaination, heres a quick sketch of the apartment:

In the livingroom/bedroom I will need to fit:

Bed 2m x 1,4m
TV-furniture 0,5m x 0,4m
Furniture with drawers 0,8m x 0,4m
Computer-desk (optional) 0,8m x 0,5m
Desk (optional) 1,2m x 0,5m
Small dining table 1,2m x 0,8m (can use this for computer and paper)

I was thinking that I could put a nice bedspread on the bed along with some huge pillows to use it as a cozy sofa at day and to sleep on at night.

I'm gonna buy furniture later also, so I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks

-jwz

jwz, take a look at Apartment Therapy - New York, which is a group of folks who love good design in small spaces. There are some talented people who, if you make this same post there, will give you all kinds of great ideas. Posts with photos tend to get the most attention. Also take a look at their archives for the "smallest, coolest apartment contest" -- there is some very inspiring stuff in there.

Unless you can build a loft bed or install a murphy bed, a day bed/sofa is probably the best idea. It would be great if you could use the space under your bed for drawers/storage. I would add two chairs on casters that can be rolled around to multitask as dining chairs, guest chairs (facing the "sofa"), and desk chair. Ikea has some incredibly inexpensive chairs. You will probably also want to get at least one small table (or 3 stacking tables) so you and your guests can reach their drink from any seat without getting up. Put casters on everything.

In such a small space (mine is also tiny -- only 305 sq. ft. - but with a view of the ocean!) rounded edges are best for everything - tables, desks, chairs, etc. - to make you feel comfortable and avoid injury.

There's a book you might enjoy looking at, one of my favorites: Living Large in Small Spaces by somebody Abrams.

Thank you for your advice, Angela.

A big problem for me is that I can't buy nice furniture etc easily because I live in a city with 4500 ppl in GREENLAND.
Not many big shops here. lol.

I will check out the link you gave me.
If possible, I would like to keep my (big) bed. It's too darn comfy.

I love flatbeds, I have one in my room with a very simple desk - you could easily use your bed as a sofa too by placing the long edge against the wall and throwing large pillows up to sit back against.

You could also build a simple and good sized table/desk to serve as a coffee table, writing surface and computing surface. You could also easily replace the TV with a 22" LCD computer monitor and run your cable/satellite through your computer with a few extra components.

Thanks for the advices.
I found an online drawing tool.
This is a draft I made so far....

Everything I've got takes up too much space..
And the darn small hallways are a waste of space.
No room for commodes etc in them..
