I just took it again:

Your Type is

Strength of the preferences %

E N F P

You are:

* slightly expressed extravert
* moderately expressed intuitive personality

Isn't that kind of rare?

Is it? I had the same result (ENFP) for both tests, and that's been my result for a while now. I was Moderate across the board. The first time I took Myers-Brigg I was much younger and I was still an "E" but like barely. It's interesting that as I've gotten older I've been come more and more of an E. I also used to be a weaker F and actually used to flip flop between F and T but nowdays I'm just a straight-up F. lol

Default INTJ or INTP - but INTP fits better

I got INTJ (Strategist) from the humanmetrics site, but INTP (Engineer) from the mypersonality.info site.
Looking at both, the INTP (Engineer) is more correct. INTJ's are natural leaders, and that ain't me, but it wasn't the only thing that put me off INTJ.
And this from the INTP description describes me to a T:
"They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into."
and:
They like being the architect of a plan, because of the scheming and thinking involved, far more than being the implementer of that plan. Implementation tends to be drudgery.

I realised recently (before this test) that I like finding the solution to problems far more than I do actually implementing the solution! Once I've figured out the solution, I get bored and want to move on to the next challenge.
But it took a bit of a leap to realise that "solving problems" actually is two parts - finding the solution and then implementing it, and that the second is of far less interest to me than the first.

I guess it isn't that rare, it just seemed like a weird combination. I guess I just don't meet many people like me, and on here, I do. So I guess it shouldn't surprise me.

Reading more about the similar ones. I find that I am a mix between INTP and INTJ.
I am been going to some big personality changes though in the last couple years. I believe that INTP is better for myself with a couple traits of INTJ. It is about 50/50 at the moment. I think in time, INTP will be much more dominant.

Being an introvert is NOT a weakness. You may be confusing introversion with shyness. You can be an introvert and be highly outgoing when you need to be. There are more shy introverts then there are shy extroverts simply because introvert need people less, thus they don't have as much push to overcome their shyness as extrovert who feel the need more to be with people. However, you can generate that push to become outgoing, less shy, etc and still be an introvert.

unique73 you can try EFT, the link is at my signature, i have been doing EFT for a long time, and it does help a lot to change your behaviour, it is a surprise for me though that EFT doesnt change my personality, it just actually give me more freedom try it!.

No it is not a weakness. My husband just took the test and hes 95 percent introvert. I am very high extrovert. We compliment each other perfectly. We each married a personality that we lacked in ourself, and made it whole

Both tests say I'm ENTJ. Reading the profiles though, I feel like I'm a good balance of all of them. But looking back now and thinking about, the characteristics of the other profiles that I have support my "natural born leadership" of being a ENTJ.

Default Another INTJ

Just voted on the other poll and now INTJ's on the site who did the pole are up to 15.38%.

My description on the first test said I was a Mastermind, is this the same as a Strategist on the second test? Does anyone know.

It's not important really as the INTJ description itself was pretty spot on.. made me laugh. Although I agree with some others on here that some of the attributes can change with mood.. only scored 12 on thinking and felt the thinking/feeling questions were hard to answer.

I have been trying to increase my Emotional Intelligence though so I probably am still more naturally a thinker..

good thread.

Yeah, it's pretty neat that there is a lot of our type (I'm an INTJ too) on here.

The thinking questions were easy for me, but it was the intuition/sensing question that were harder. I remember now that I took this test 8 years ago and I scored "sensing" and I thought that I should try to develop my intuition more. Now I score on the Intuition side, and I do more through my intuition.

Lightbulb

I closed the window accidentally, but it started with an E.

That's the first time I've ever tested as an E. I think that has a lot to do with all the emotional work I'm doing, becoming more accepting of my own feelings and being able to express them around people. Finally starting to get out of my shell.

It said "slightly expressed extrovert." Crazy. People can really change.

I am an ENFP and can lend testimony to Angela's and Lisa's (and I think a few more) statement that they swing both ways. I find myself being very extroverted when I'm comfortable, but I tend to spend a lot of time alone thinking and reflecting.

Out of curiosity, if you are an ENFP and find yourself "swinging both ways," how would you describe your needs or desires to fulfill both extroversion and introversion? Ex. I need time alone to... perhaps sort out my thoughts...etc.

I just took the test as well and my result was ISTP - The "Craftsman", the introverted bit is especially true of me. I noticed further up the thread someone was talking about shyness and being introverted, I don't think I'm shy, I sometimes lack in confidence when speaking in a group and I feel uncomfortable. When I'm among friend though I can be quite outgoing but most of the time I quite like being on my own.

Cheers
Martin

Maybe you are a more natural or true Intravert but have learnt to enjoy and actively be more extravert. I feel the same way. It feels more comfortable and sometimes I feel very happy to be on my own or with my own thoughts but also just love being out there and in the middle of the lots of people and discussions as well and would feel very alone if I did not have this contact as I deeply value it too. And I do love my more extravert personality makes me laugh some of the things I say and get up to.

Still if I had to choose between being locked in a room filled with 10 excitable individuals for 24 hours or being locked up alone I would probably choose alone. Too much uncontrolled stimulation overwhelmes me.

Also I still sometimes rely on a little dutch courage when knowing I am going to be doing a lot of extravert activities, like going to new places and meeting new people. But even without dutch courage I can be the loudest in the room when with familiar people. I mean very loud! So again both aspects in my overall personality but I feel I am a natural Intravert who dabbles in Extravertism.. lol

I think there are many people who would feel the desire or need to fulfill both aspects of their personality as you sound like you might. I am a Libran so have a big desire to balance these aspects anyway. If I have been pottering by my self for too long I start to feel lonely so will phone and text people and organise a night out or meet up or new hobby and invite them along. I practiced saying yes to every outing I was invited to some years back so this really got me familiar and more comfortable at being thrown into extravert situations.

Or if it has been non stop go go go social and extravert activities then I will schedule a well deserved night at home - alone time in some way, maybe playing on my laptop, reading a book or my favorite having a bath with candles and silence. I will also think about doing something quiet on the weekend to bring back the balance if my week is looking very busy. I do photography and this is a very enjoyable activity to do on my own. I have also gone to a movie by myself and find sitting in a dark movie theatre alone and with my mobile off just blissful.. can come out feeling totally ready for more extravert activities.

The Question I am interested in asking is do people think posting on forums like this one an introvert or extravert activity? haha

Well I wasn't sure how to answer all of them, but heres the results from the first test:

Quote:
INTJ
- very expressed introvert
- distinctively expressed intuitive personality
- moderately expressed thinking personality
- slightly expressed judging personality
Test from mypersonality.info:
Quote:
INTP - The "Engineer"
Temperament: NT (Intellectual)

Primary Function: Introverted Thinking
Population: 2.5% (4% male, 1% female)
I've noticed a couple other people got the same results as me from the two sites.. And yes I also feel I'm more of an INTP.

Honest Abe, Einstein, Descartes, Socrates, Darwin, Jung. Wholesome bunch are we. Don't know how the Olsen twins managed to join our posse though. X_x

I too am an INTJ. Wow this is absurdly common for this forum. I guess I've come to the right place.

I do think personalities can change over time. I took a similar test about two years ago through school that grouped people in the same way and I came out ENTP in that one. I answered truthfully on both occasions.

Talking

ENTP here.

I find taking these tests awkward because I'm never sure whether to put what I am or what I like. For example if you seen me in my life you would instantly label me an introvert ( I can relate to the discription of INTP), and so would I, but when I took the test I put that I genuinely enjoyed socialising regardless of the group size. Plus I didn't feel a need to be alone which is true. So one of my results was expressive extrovert. I personally think that the reason for this is because my low self esteem and confidence is masking my true personality. Does anyone think there could be any truth in this?

Default I'm rare!

I am an INFJ, supposedly the rarest type. I did the test again just to make sure, and I am INFJ all the way, aka, "The Counsellor".

I wouldn't say I was psychic, but I do get a feel for things and freak out my friends by being *too* accurate. It's just that I can see through all the BS, but in a caring way, of course!
