Hello Rose, I just want to say, I've noticed your posts on varying threads and began to think we must be a lot alike, but something wasn't sitting quite right with that idea. Now I figured it out: Quote:

I took the first quiz and got INTJ. My most recent longer-version MBTI was an ISTJ, but not very far into the S. I'm right on the line between S and N, and also very close on the line between E and I although I've never scored an E. I am very strongly in the T and J categories, however.

Often I find that the question can be a little vague on the I/E and T/F values but unfortunately the J/P has a strong bias towards being messy/clean etc... Not the best indicator unfortunately. | |

One test says I'm INTP, the other says I'm INFP. In the past I've tested as INTP more often. I think it depends on the wording of the questions and the choices. For a lot of the questions I would really like to answer, "It depends," instead of yes or no. For example, am I energized or drained by social situations? It depends! If it's a fun dance party with people I like, then I'm energized. If I'm not comfortable with the subject of the social situation, then I'm drained. Sometimes I want to be the center of attention (again, if it's something I care about), and sometimes I don't. I certainly wouldn't mind getting attention from looking good or being in a good-looking photo, if only I could. Sometimes I'm logical, and other times I let my feelings guide me. Sometimes those two are in conflict, and I end up doing nothing. So, how accurate do I think my test results are? I work in an INTP field, and I have the feeling that most people see me as an INTP. I'm definitely introverted and somewhat analytical, but I'm not that great at logic problems, and I don't feel like I fit in with other people in my field. As for the INFP side, it's true that I'm idealistic, though my values are different from and less altruistic than other people's ideals. I try to stay true to my own values, but I'm not willing to make many sacrifices. |

INTP here. But like slinky said, some of the questions depends on the situation. I've always been good at seeing things from multiple sides (yes, sometimes even more than 2). I feel like I understand most people (even though I don't agree with everyone), and often see things from a perspective that would make many people look strange at me |

One test labeled me as ENFP, the other as INFP. On the introversion/extroversion scale, I love to be around other people, but I also have a strong need for alone time to "recharge my batteries." Interestingly, I'm 33 now and very surprised to be the same "type" I was when I took this test back in high school - ENFP. I know I've changed a lot since then... it's surprising that, according to these tests, my underlying personality is basically the same. EDIT: "ENFPs are both "idea"-people and "people"-people, who see everyone and everything as part of an often bizarre cosmic whole." That describes me to a T. | yeah i was thinking about that because as i said, im really in a transition stage now where i really want to get out of the box. but what about the innate nature of a person? i mean do you guys believe that a person born with an introvert personality will always remain to be that way because it is already in his nature to be that way so that no matter how hard he tries, or desires to be an extrovert, he will still be an introvert in the end? my friend talked about that the other day, got me thinking. |

Your personality isn't fixed, it can be changed according to desires and will change over time as your situation changes (from child to adolescent to adult to parent, etc.) The most shy introvert can go on to become the life and soul of the party if they want to, I've seen it in others and done it myself, there's no reason why you can't also oh yeah I got ENTJ (Chief) and ESTJ (Overseer) Although following other peoples rules and traditions isn't really my thing so the description for an ENTJ is probably more accurate |

Interesting. I am the ENVP Orignator, and ENVP Advocate. 5.5 Percent has this type. Extraverted Intuition , was the original label. What I find very interesting, is I have a green aura, that I can see myself. When I read the meaing of a green aura, it says the same thing that personality test does! There is something to that! And it was me to a tee. Thanks for the link, cool. Ama Last edited by Amatrine; 12-26-2007 at 04:51 AM. |

_____________________________ Both tests peg me as an INFP -- "the dreamer/visionary" -- and I'd say the descriptions they give for that personality type do a good job of describing me. Results from the first test: Quote:
Results from the second test: ![]() Some of the specifics don't describe me 100%, but that's because (A) the environment I grew up in caused me to develop certain areas that other people who share my type probably aren't as developed in (if the descriptions are indeed accurate), and (B) I tend to express some of the core qualities of my type in unconventional ways, but essentially those specifics can still be traced back to the same qualities. Overall, the tests seems pretty damn accurate. "Gameplay experience subject to change during online play" _____________________________ I will say, however, that my personality type is subject to change, and I can see that there's a good chance that it will. Certain qualities (such as the "introspective" one) don't seem as universal as the test descriptions imply. For example, right now I still find social situations pretty draining, but that's largely because I'm pretty inexperienced socially and I'm yet to find a way to maintain my connection with my own energy in such situations. I am, however, certain that there is a way to do that, or at least, some way to "not be drained". So while I'll always enjoy my "alone time" (yep, that doesn't sound right, haha), once I do discover a way to somehow mitigate this draining effect, I think my answers to certain questions will change. At the core, I think your personality type will adapt around your true self, and personality tests will be a good, (somewhat) objective measure of how well you're doing expressing your true self. Judging from my test results, I think I'm doing pretty well, but there are other areas that I'd like to shore up a bit because I felt that some of the answers I gave, while currently accurate, don't really reflect the real me. Edit: After reading a bit more about the personality types, I can see that I'm very close to becoming an ENFP. I've always been a sort of dualistic individual, so I think I'll probably end up shifting between INFP and ENFP, like Openeyes describes in this post. One of my main challenges right now is finding a practical way to balance my energy such that I can expand and stay grounded at the same time. I always thought it was a matter of either/or, but I can see that it's probably closer to AND then anything else, which doesn't surprise me, since I'm heavily leaning toward the lightworker path. Interestingly, years ago when I was leaning more towards the darkworker path, I probably would have said it was a case of either/or, but intuitively I was already starting to feel that the darkworker path didn't feel right to me. Tell you what, it's great being able to finally understand such things. It makes functioning more efficient. My thoughts about the tests _____________________________ I thought the second test was better then the first. It asked better questions which made them easier to answer, unlike the first test which had me trying to guess at what they were saying. Eg. For many questions in the first test I didn't have a clear yes or no answer. I could have answered "yes" in a certain situation, and "no" in another, which really means that the question needs to be more specific or do a better job at expressing what they're getting to. Random trivia _____________________________ My personality type accounts for only 2% of the population (1.5% male, 2.5% female), and I share the same type with the character "Rocko" from the old-school TV show/cartoon Rocko's Modern Life (that show was great). If anyone is interested, you can view my profile from the second test here: Personality Profile of Bruce (Personality Type)

I am an INFP. The description is unnervingly accurate. PS. Does anybody know why INFPs are so unorganized and how they can overcome it?

I am an INTJ Its called "The Art of Speadreading People" by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger Unlike those tests, this has very detailed descriptions on all the 16 types of personalities. Its helps you determine your own type as well. You might want to grab a copy if you are interested in this. |

I did the test several times and had varying results (ISTJ - Examiner, INFJ - Confidant and ISFJ - Defender). That was reason for me to investigate further and I started to look at the patterns in total and the percentages in the scores. It seems there is a common theme for being an 'introvert' and 'judging'. I am not convinced that I am actually an introvert although I currently behave like one. It seems that I am actually a scared extrovert acting out of fear of being rejected and fear of being judged by others. If I would be more extrovert, that would be quite a shift in who I am and can be ! I read a bit more on the Judging vs Perceiving and the characteristics that go with such people and frankly Perceiving fits me better in many ways. I think I need to be Decisive, Controlled, Organized, Structured and Responsible since I have labels saying that is 'Good' and how I should be, it is how I get things done and more a survival mechanism. Feeling no focus in life (working on that) I am quite sure many answers I gave in those tests were based on what I think I should do, not on what I actually do. In real life I much more a Perceiving person (e.g. Disorganized, Changes tracks midway, Procrastinates, Dislikes routine). The last few days I did a lot of reading on Steve's site and forums and I am starting to questioning the fears that are holding me back and the destructive believes I have. I am not convinced that doing those tests now, will not result in who I actually am or can be, because I feel I am a vague shadow of my potential. But the those tests did give me even more reasons to question my current context and believes and continue to work on finding my purpose. It has been quite a ride so far ! Bart |
