I have been formulating some plans for the final year of my 30s which is essentially the whole of 2008.

I've had a few issues to deal with this year but I'm coming through the other side and I'm very positive for the future. The decks are well on the way to being cleared financially which means I can direct my thoughts away from the associated stresses of counting the days to pay day and how the heck am I gonna pay that big bill.

This will give me focus. While I am not prepared to say exactly what I have planned at this stage one thing I will be working on is a book.

I have created a secret blog which only I will see. This will be my record of 2008 running up until my 40th birthday which handily falls right at the end of the year.

I love writing, particular humour and I see the results of this process becoming a mid-life crisis avoidance guide or a diary of a thirty-something teenager.

At this precise moment I feel in limbo as we're in the run-up to the house move and Christmas but by the 21st December our finances will be fully in place, we'll be in our new home and I will be off work for nearly two weeks.

I will come back refreshed and ready, not for new year resolutions, but for...

I am currently working on a list of '100 things to do before I'm 40' which is going to be a challenge but I've always got a buzz from ticking something off the list however small it is.

With nearly two goals to achieve a week it looks like I'm going to busy!
