Default how on earth are you supposed to get a scholarshp?!

I can't apply for the high school-going-on to-college scholarships since I'm in undergrad already.

I want to know how I should go about actually 'getting' a scholarship. I'm aware of websites such as Fastweb, however for some reason I'm scared to actually apply for some of them, feeling like I'll never get one or it can't even compare to others'. It just seems very time consuming, and its not even like I'm an amazing writer either.

But I've always dreamed of getting a scholarship, heck, even if its 50$ !

any suggestions?

I would say just apply. Sure it's best to narrow down to just the ones that fit you, but don't let feeling like none of them fit stop you. A good first step would be to go see someone at the financial aid office of your school. They should be able to give you some pointers.

You just have to look through them for ones that you may have the credentials for. And then just apply to as many as you can

There's no real trick. All the good ones that I saw in college were for people with high marks combined with school/community contributions.

There are often other specialized bursaries for things such as a GPA over x.

There's probably a place at your school that has info about what they offer as well.

Just read as many as you can and then apply to the ones you think you have a shot at... pretty much all you can do

I second the idea of just applying. It's not up to you to decide whether you qualify. I did it once and won, when I was absolutely sure that I would not get it. Go figure. But having good grades helps.

It is true that with online scholarship search programs you will be hit with tons of junk mail and spam. If you apply to one of these, make sure to set up an alternate "junk email" account that you only use for this, that way when you start getting the junk mail, it doesn't clog up your regular email address.

If you look at some orgainzations in your city (chamber of commerce, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, etc.) they may know where to apply for scholarships. Even though private scholarships only account for about 3% of the money that is awarded, it doesn't hurt to check them out.

get the FAFSA form that Ree mentioned, and also look at your states commission of higher education. Just type in your state with the words "commission of higher education" in a search bar and see what you get.

When there's a will, there's a way.

Good luck and go for your dreams.

I also am in undergrad and would love to get scholarships, but going into college I applied for several and was denied on all of them so I got down and never tried again. I guess I should try again, but I just haven't spent the time to find them and apply
