I think most offensive words depends on the environment and there is no particular word in any language which can be called as the most offensive word. It depends on the person you are talking to, his thinking and so on. I have seen many people using very vulgar and abusive language while talking to each other and still they are not offended and then there are people who get offended even if you slightly mention any abusive word.

The most offensive word in the English language: Perfection YouTube - ‪Alanis Morissette Perfect‬‏ The version of this song on the OS is hysterical. Alanis sounds so pissed off in it. She sounds too nice in this version, but on the positive side, she looks pretty hot in the video | |

I would call it more offensive it it had the word "below" in front of it. But it is pretty offensive, just like normal. The first time someone called me "normal," I had to prove them wrong, as I was and still am anything but "normal/average." It is a stigmatizing word, and it should be banned. |

My apologies for going a little off topic for a moment. But for the record, I can't stand to watch anything with Gordon Ramsay. His effing and bliming make my blood pressure go up! LOL!!! For the life of me, I cannot see how he has fans! I have a friend who absolutely loves him. How he speaks to people is simply disgusting. I am sure he's been told to really lay it on thick for ratings and for shock value. Seems all the Englishmen on American television are told to play the 'bad guy' -- e.g. Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan, to name a few that come to mind. What's with that? Yes, the word 'average' can be a downer for high achievers and perfectionists. I sense many of the SP forum members are both of these in one way or another. I used to supervise a young lad who hated the phrase "you have potential." I do see what he means. It's as if to say that you are somehow less than what I expect you to be right now....and he liked thinking of himself as everything he was supposed to be in the here and now. I always appreciated him expressing that to me. In fact, it was so powerful that I promoted him! LOL |

While I myself would take that very personally (my ego is frightfully delicate), I also think that that's silly. There's nothing inherently wrong with being average, but there's plenty trouble with thinking that you have to compete constantly or exceed others in everything. Average is not an objective term, after all, it's relative to others. Being the best at something, or even above average, is only a way to strengthen our sense of self in a false way. Instead of seeking above-averageness, or first place, I'd rather focus on seeking peace and acceptance of all that's average about myself. |
