Default The Darkworkers Bible

How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Perhaps the Darkworkers Bible? The teenagers handbook? Its certainly something amazing, and i urge everyone to read it and discuss it because the more awareness there is around this book, the better.

To me this book looks more like the lightworker's bible. But it depends on the point of view; it can be either, actually.

I would also rather label it as lightworker bible.

Here's the classic darkworker book:

Machiavelli: The Prince: Contents

Carnegie was clearly writing from lightworker perspective. Speaking about the book, it don't think it needs much more awareness then it already has. It was the first PD book I've read, it was a huge bestseller in the thirties. Now it is a little outdated. Not the ideas - they are universal and have been rehashed thousand times over. The book lacks a little in trainable skills. Each technique in the book can be expanded into another practical how-to instruction that will be much more useful. It's a classic. But I won't say it is timeless.

Ilya, and indeed everyone who has said it was a Lightwokrer book, the very core principle of the book is how to get people to do what you want. Its a selfish idea. Obviously superficially it looks like Lightworker material certainly. On a proper inspection of the text Carnegie is talking, almost, from a point of the two sides merging, a place where Stevwe has mentioned somewhat, wherein which Light and Darkworkers are indestinguishable, both realise and understand each others values.

Carnegie's core principle is to give first, before you receive.
That is the lightworker principle.

The way is the way as they say
Giving is the lightworker way.

I figured it would be more like: The 48 Laws of Power
^^
a bit of darkworker syndrome, maybe, but a few bits of good advice in there.

Default 48 Laws of Power

I would say the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene would be a good darkworker bible.

I don't know why people don't see How to Win Freinds and Influence People as a Darkworker Text. It just seems inuitively to me, that its about getting what you want. Selfishness. Darkworking.
Do you remember those Psychological tests done by Asch in the 80's, I think, about conformity and Implicit pressure, or in easier words, an unspoken pressure from a group to conform? If not then look here:

Conformity Experiment

but the point is, if three+ stooges say an answer to something, even if it is the wrong answer, as long as they are all the same, the 4th+ naive participant will have a good chance of conformity, even if the answer is blantantly wrong.

You may be wondering WHY I am saying this, its because as soon as one or two people agreed that it was a Lightworker book, not the other way around, anyone who may have said it was a darkworker text, has simply vanished, or decided that is really IS a Lightwokrer book, and don't want to seem foolish for saying different. The Implicit Pressure on this forum is a hell of a lot sometimes, especially with such "Black/White" decisions.

I say that it IS a Darkworker text and no amount of external pressure can argue against it, I KNOW it is a Darkworker text, I trust my gut more than I trust disembodied voices (no offence fellow forumites ) and I want other people to, if they believe so, to admit they too think it is a darkworker text!

That argument isn't really relevant here. The judgment of "How to Win friends and influence" people as a lightworker bible is made well before reading your thread.

In addition the you claimed above that it is a "Darkworkers Bible". That is a claim of authority.

Let's say someone comes and asks about how to improve his dating (if you search in the forums you will find a few threads), there are the lightworker responses:
"Be, yourself, respect other people read "How to Win Friends and Influence People"".
Then there are the "darkworker" answers:
"Do this, and that to get power over the girls, read David DeAngelo "Double your Dating" or Robert Greene "The Art of Seduction"".

In those sort of discussions, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" is the lightworker answer.

Lightworking isn't about the Lightworker syndrom.
A person like Gandhi also tried to influence others. But he rather used strategies like "listening to others" (light) than "dividing and conquer" (dark).

Hmm I feel...as though I view Darkworking differently perhaps to most people. You see I think things like "Seduction" "Laws of Power" "Divide and Conquer" are bad too but I still think that putting myself first is effective, but so is helping people.

I guess it sorta sounds like I am a Lightworker, I enjoy helping people, I feel better for helping them, it just seems right to help them. But in my mind, deep down, something tells me that I am NOT a Lightworker. I can't explain it. I have tried to be one, but I just reject it.

Haha this is making less and less sense as I go on.

I can hardly say that I am so high up on the Worker scale that I have meshed the two in complete synergy because thats just rubbish...it would be egoic to say otherwise...

but then again...

/ambiguity.
