Default September Challenge - Goals

This challenge is like the august challenge and the july challenge. If you haven't already read it you should also read Steves article about 30 day trials.
Here we get publically accountable for our goals.

If you want to comment, give feedback or encourage someone who posted in this thread please use the feedback thread instead of this one.

Mine:
-Talk to two stangers at least every second day.
-Get ready for university
-Do training on my hometrainer everyday
-Program my second website (for someon else, nothing exiting to share here)

Talking about this in terms of “bad news” or “bad judgment by business leaders” seems archaic. It’s like describing World War One as “a serious diplomatic concern.”
Bruce Sterling about the financial crisis.

Hmm... I've been trying to figure out what this challenge thing was all about. At first I thought it was just one person's thread that got put to sticky. So it's instead about each person listing off his or her 30 day challenge goals? I think that should be explicitly stated somewhere; maybe I'm just missing it.

My goals for September are:
  • Cut out all grains (bread, pasta, rice) as part of the transition into a Paleolithic diet on my blog. I expect this to be quite difficult.
  • Start going to the gym five days a week.
  • Finish or at least make significant progress on my Facebook application.
  • Check email and google adwords, adsense, and analytics only once a day.

hmm ohh I love a challenge. OK!

> Get off to a good start on my A- Levels

> Persuade my parents let me buy some Paraliminal CD's and the Photoreading Course

>> (only applicable if above step is completed) Learn Photoreading and listen to paraliminals

> Start going to the gym at least twice a week

> And as more of a long term goal, get all A's at A-level, its gonna be tough but I have a super strong resolution to do it! (stronger than reinforced Chrome-Digizoid)

I am still a newbie to 30 days trials and since I am allready into my first 5-6 days of a round, I've got only two.'

1) Getting up at 8 am each morning, be in bed by 1 am. (This is a big step for one that used to get up at 2 pm and get to bed at 4 am).
2) Using one and a half hour each day to studying at University, since I am a part time student who needs to get my act together.

I was a very bad person when it came to the fact of being efficient, taking action, stay on the road and not fall off and finally take responsibility for my own life. So right now, in the beginning I take baby-steps so I get into habits and start to like them. I like it allready and feel so much better at heart and feel that I will really get it going this time, because I do it on my terms and pick the bad habits on my own, no one tells me what habit is the worse but me.

When the 30 days is off (I started at 26th August) I will probobly add 30 minutes of exersize each day and maybe do another tiny thing like adding brushing teeths each morning and evening (I usually does it in the evening only) and then because this second thing is so tiny, I will probobly take another tiny thing like adding 15 minutes of studing each day.

I hope that my plans sounds really good. And that people like the fact that I try out those. Even if I know that one of the habits I start up probobly will be hard on my boyfriend who seems to be a B-type person who hates mornings even more then me and is more productive in the evenings/nights. But this time, even that will not stand in my way. I already feel the goods of becoming an early riser, like hunger 3 or 4 times a day and more energy and a more regular stomach. I could probobly add a few more things here but I leave that out.

Sure, I'll do it again.

1) Go vegan for 30 days. Vegetarianism left me never craving meat, although I did accidentally eat it twice because I'm a dolt. I'd sort of like to see where my health is after 30 days of veganism. My skin and energy is so much better after reducing dairy and eggs a lot; I'd like to eliminate it for awhile.

2) Go running 4 days a week, a little farther each day. I started doing this recently and I'm really loving the energy. I would like to see where I'm at in 30 days.

3) Clean my place for ten minutes each day. Got to quit living like a rockstar. At least at home. ;-)

My goals for September (also posted on my bedroom wall):

1. Take an appropriate dosage of fish oil every day. I just
purchased a bottle of 400 capsules, so this will also be my
October, November, and December goal.

2. Overcome a bout of major depression I am currently going
through that made it nearly impossible to get out of bed the
other morning.

3. Meet some new people. I just started school and have gotten
in the bad habit of sitting alone in the cafeteria when I
don't necessarily feel like doing that.

4. Read The Odyssey. I have to do this for school, but my
concentration has made it difficult to even hold a decent
conversation. This will probably go more smoothly after goal
#2 is achieved.

5. Go for a strenuous jog every day. No matter how crappy I feel, I always feel at least a little better after doing this. It's almost a magical cure but is so easy to overlook.

6. Go out and enjoy life. Stop being such an irritable bitch
all of the time.

I'm willing to give it a try, so here goes -

1. Don’t take on any additional business commitments and wrap all my current outside consulting projects.

2. Absolutely no television, including movies.
(oh I can just see the withdrawal coming. twitch.)

3. Follow the morning ritual/routine I created every day.

4. Journal a minimum of 4 things I’m grateful for everyday.
(an old habit I'd like to start again.)

5. Only eat meat(fish) on the weekends.

Default September

1. Sleep 8 hours and 45 mins every night mostly!
(Preferably go in bed before 2:30)
2. Play guitar 4 hours daily at least
3. Record tune for "grand pleasure" competition and send it.
4. Buy a camera for my future guitar-web site
5. Finish tab transcriptions for my "future guitar web site" and insert it
6. Learn at least 8 more songs from a repertoire with my band
7. Send a catalog to my guitar-instructional-video customers (update it previously)

OK, that is enough!

Can't wait till the end of the September!

Good Luck with your goals, they are very interesting, especially previously (5 hours composing)

Everyone here has got so many great trials. Go us that try this way! We are the brave and great people of the world. But in all this, don't forget to see the small things in life, like the last flower that blossoms and the first tree-top that is yellow in the fall.

Just a tiny litte way of keeping up the spirit from my side!

I utterly failed last months, but now that I'm in school I feel I'll have a better mindset on doing stuff.

1) Don't eat any dairy for the rest of the month.

2) Stop biting my nails.

3) Maintain at least 92% in all my classes.

4) Make better use of my time.(Not concrete)

Default 30-day Trial (09/20/07-10/19/07)

Ok, I'm starting this a bit late, but I guess it's better than never.
  1. Wake up at 5am every day. (I'm staying up all night tonight so I can reset my sleep pattern)
  2. Avoid all red meat.
  3. Meditate twice a day for 20 minutes (morning and evening)
  4. Exercise 7 days a week. Running Mon., Wed., and Fri. Strength training on Tues., Thurs., and Sat. And walking on Sunday so I can get some recovery time in.
  5. Work on my posture constantly.
  6. Read one hour a day.
  7. Write at least a page a day.
  8. Bid on a project on rentacoder.com every day.
  9. Avoid soda, caffeine, and junk foods.
  10. Contribute at least an hour of work per week to an open source project.
  11. Play guitar daily.
  12. Work on my online class every day.
  13. Stop biting my nails.

I'm trying to go from waking up at 2pm, eating mostly meats and starches, sitting around, and exercising maybe once every two weeks to this. Gonna be fun.

Hey guys, I'm new here, and I'll throw in the goals I have for the rest of september:

1: Complete the planned 4 part chapters in the university mathematical analysis class (Studying, comprehending and memorizing the material, and solving all the required problems)

2: Keep up all the workouts, all the days of dieting and the bodyfat measurement on 30 sept.

3: Complete the planning and the first meet with the concelor for the bachelor assignment in my last year studying for the bachelor degree in economics.

4: Stay on course with the economic/administrative subjects in economics school (Studying, comprehending and memorizing the material)

5: Complete the orchestration part of the composing assignment, and record the guitartracks for the finished record.

edit: 6: Logging my hours and effectiveness rankings every day.

Happy to be here!

Two new trials for me along with the two I already have done, so now I've got four trials...

1) Get up at 8 each morning, and go to bed at 12:45 (probobly getting a few extra minutes of sleep that way and becoming less tired in the middle of the day).

2) Study 1 h 45 minutes each day.

3) Take a walk (The Nordic Walking style) for 30 minutes the minimum each day.

4) Eat more fruits and veggies each day of any sort. Preferbly into the "plate-model" <--- is an old fasioned way of keeping track of what you eat that has been arround from the 1950ies in Sweden and is deadly easy to follow. It is called tallriksmodellen in Swedish!
