A Motivating Article

How are obsessions started? What you thought was a simple thought suddenly gets blown into a dramatic, day-to-day bother. All the little things that didn’t matter suddenly consume your every thought. The obsession overpowers you and makes it difficult for you to function doing ordinary tasks.

What fuels these obsessions? There are many triggers, but the one main one is not having your eyes set on the right goal. If you had a worthy goal in mind, you would not be so wrapped up in little things that do not matter as much. For example, if you had a goal of being more friendly or getting all A’s, then you would not be consumed with the minute details of watching whatever you eat. If you keep your eyes on Jesus, he will be your ultimate goal. There is no need to lose weight or try to eat as little as possible.

Satan wants you to be depressed. Of course he does not like a happy family. I’m sure he is elated right now. Simply elated. When your family goes through fights and disputes, Satan is just cheering his head off. This is exactly what he wants. But you…you don’t want what Satan wants, right? Then do the contrary! Anger Satan by wanting to get a long with your family, trying to find zest for life, not being discouraged, and telling yourself that you are beautiful just the way you are. Don’t you believe it? You are beautiful! God made everyone a certain way, with certain looks, talents, and abilities. People tell you that you’re beautiful. Believe it! Take the compliment because it’s true! Besides, if you did weigh 7 pounds less, would you suddenly have more friends? No. That is not the case. Remember when you weighed 106 pounds…did you have a whole bunch of friends? Oh, surely you did, because you were so skinny, right? No. Ok, sure, your physical appearance changed, but that’s it. Your personality did not change, and that’s what gains you all your friends, right? Looks aren’t everything. You can go far with good lucks, but your personality is what will sustain you to the end. For example, think about models. Their good looks are what sell them in the modeling industry. However, if they have a weak personality, most likely their pictures will reflect it. Photographers want to see zest when they look at a person, not just a pretty face. I cannot state this enough: looks will take you far in life, but your personality is what will sustain you. Just think about it. Twenty years from now, do you think you will look the same as you do now? Sure, you will obviously have the same physical characteristics, but your body will inevitably change as you get older. Personalities will never age, therefore invest your time in improving your personality, for that is what will last a lot longer! Your looks will come and go. Be sure that when they go, you still have a personality!

Ok so the question is, how do you develop a sparkling personality? Perhaps you know of a person who is always upbeat, perky, and cheerful. No matter what happens in life, she seems to have a positive outlook on things. Now think about a grumpy, depressed, pyramid-stud loving punk. How’s their outlook on life? Not very pleasant, I’d guess. A shining personality is a very useful tool in life. It could land you that job, position, boyfriend, award, or anything!

I know it is difficult to always have a smile on your face. We all have our ups and downs, our good and bad days. Your life is probably far from perfect, in fact. So how do you remain cheerful during those glum days? First, look on the positive side of things. The sun always appears after the storm. Likewise, your bad days WILL eventually end and you WILL eventually reach happier times. Trust me. It is impossible to have a bad day every single day of your life. Sure, your life may already be less-than-satisfactory, but not every day is a bad day. God does not allow us suffer more than we can handle. I think one reason why he allows difficult times to come our way is so we can turn to him for comfort and support. He is always there; all you have to do is come to him. Ask him for help, and I guarantee it, he WILL help you. It may not be instantaneous, but he does hear your pleas, and he WILL help you.
