Question Photoread to learn new language?

hello, first i have to say that i'm not a native English speaker, so i have to apologize for bad grammars.

I just wonder if you can photoread to learn new language faster and better than regular way of learning. (reading textbook again and again, memorize vocabulary word by word)

i'm very new to photoreading though, i never have any benefit from photoreading yet. I have photoreaded many books and I think I've done it correctly. I state my purpose, then preview the book and know the contents before I start photoread. I do see bulb, alert, and relax. The problem is that I cannot activate any information after 20 minutes or the day after. When I super read or rapid read is just like finding myself reading a book for the first time. (Only that I know the contents or headers but I don't feel similar with the information and have no idea at all where can i find specific information i want to)
well, this is my photoread problem. but, i'm not giving up. Just want to share and hope someone can help me fix the problem.

ok, sorry for that, lets get back to the topic.
Have anyone ever try learning new language by photoread?
or do you know any other way to learn new language fast?

if I have 1-2 hours a day.
my goal is to be able to read comfortably of the new language. (Like surfing the webs, read articles, blogs), memorize about 5,000 words all of these in one month.
assume that i already know a little about the language. (concepts and some vocabs)

Thank you so much for reading to this. Hope we can share more experience!
Saeros

EDIT: My real goal is to be fluent with the new language, But i know that takes hundreds of hours. or the best way is to go live in that country, which is not possible for me now. Just want to know that photoreading or other method could help, ahem, *dramatically*

Here's the response I posted in the other thread:

I've never tried it, but I imagine so. I know people have used it to help learn new programming languages. In one of the PR books there's also a story about a programmer who found more bugs after PhotoReading the computer code he wrote.

When PhotoReading you first get a general overview of a book and then dive into the details. So first you build the context; then you learn the content. I think this model could work well for learning a foreign language -- build a high-level overview of the language constructs and grammar; then begin acquiring the vocabulary and nuances of the language. So instead of learning the language linearly (like I did with 3 years of French in high school, most of which is long forgotten), you would learn it in a more top-down manner.

It seems to me this is how children learn a language through immersion. First, they pick up the gross constructs and a few words. As they age they continue to refine the lower level details and add vocabulary.

One advantage you'd have with learning a language is that it would be relatively easy to define a clear goal, such as being able to watch a movie in that language and understand the plot and dialog.

I'm really just speculating here though -- again I've never tried learning a language via PhotoReading, although I have PhotoRead books on writing and speaking in English (and it worked well).

I guess if you have a clear purpose in mind and you definitely know why you are reading the book and not just reading to pass the time, like learning a new language, you will pay more attention in each step of the PhotoReading, and therefore gain a better understanding of the book and what you want out of it. Squeeze that book like a sponge and get the knowledge you need and discard the rest.

The thing I believe I am going to like most about photoreading on a regular basis is I will know right away whether the book is worth reading. If a language book I get doesn't seem to be the one for me, I will know immediately, in the store/library, and not need to even go any further. The biggest challenge is making photoreading a habit, which I will have to PhotoRead some of Steve's articles from the past to do so.
