French translation rights for either book or articles Hello everyone, as a translator I am looking for something to translate from English to French. I remembered seeing a few months ago that Steve released the copyrights of his works to the public domain, so I thought I might see if it would be possible for me to translate his book PDSP on my own and then get published by a publisher. I did see a post in which Steve says the foreign rights for French have been sold in Canada and France... does that mean that his book wasn't included in the copyrights release, and therefore I cannot translate it with the intention of publishing it ? If so, would it be legal, on the other hand, for me to collect what I consider his best articles, translate them, and get them published in French ? I assume that his book PDSP isn't just a collection of his online articles. I have been looking on the internet for a French version of his blog. I have found a few attempts that were poorly translated and seem to have been abandoned. I would be interested I collecting the blog articles and making a book out of it to make these gems available to the French population. Thanks to you all. |
The copyright of the book PDSP isn't released, so you can't legally translate that book. Only his online articles and tweets are released and you can translate those and make those articles into a book if you want. |
Go ahead with the french translation of his articles. Hope you can get benefit doing something that benefits us all. Make steve accesible to french people. GO! |
