We haven't been given sales figures in a long long time. I think Hay House can easily see what's been sold on Amazon, but the sales-through figures for the bookstores can take a while to show through. I think sometimes its 120 days. There's a big difference between what the bookstores bought and how many they've sold and how many are still on the shelf.

I figure when he gets his first royalty check, we'll know something definitive, assuming he earns back the advance within the first pay period. We don't know that either.

So what are the numbers??

It's been three months, has it sold well?....poorly?....something in between?

It seems that everyone who has read and/or reviewed it, likes it, what are the numbers?.............or is it a secret??

Just curious

what would it mean to you if the book sold 5k or 15k copies? why are sales numbers important to you? we are not here to celebrate numbers. we are here to celebrate awakenings. if 50k bought the book that does not mean 50k heard the message.

I didn't ask the original question, but I love knowing details, and I love being specific on numbers so to me, it's just part of what I like to know. .

I too love details and numbers, especially if they come in dollar values
But something tells me Steve isn't going to post them

We aren't really given sales figures. We might know more when the first royalty statement arrives, but it won't be up to date since there is a five month lag time between sales and payments. We don't even know if he will have earned back the advance yet.

Would you be allowed to release those sales figure if you are able to figure it out from the royalty statement? My assumption was that you would have to keep the sales figure private, but maybe I'm wrong?

I don't plan to share sales or income figures publicly. For similar reasons I stopped posting income figures from blogging a long time ago. It generates too much email and becomes a distraction.

It would be nice to get some kind of number. But you're under no obligation to do so. The problem with this is that when it becomes a bestseller, or sells one million copies, I have a feeling you'll put THAT on the cover of your book, but you won't share the sales figures now.

Well, if I was in Steve's place I wouldn't disclose the numbers either, so I certainly can't blame him.

But here is an educated guess on the number of sales, based on this study. So with a current Amazon.com Sales Rank of 2,127, it should be selling up to 200 copies per week (but more like 150). Of course it's just an estimate. But before you start counting the $$ remember that Steve is not pocketing the $16, but only a part of it, so may not be that much.

This is only the current evaluation, it must have sold much more back in the earlier days after the launch. E.g. if the ranking was 100 it could've brought in an estimated 560 sales per week.
