Post My Views of the Book

I began reading Steve's book since yesterday. The cover page is quite impressive. The Introduction chapter was good. There is no mention of Steve's parents role/reaction when he was in prison. A line or two about this would have been better. The "Fundamental Principles" map is very simple & easy to remember. I feel serious pursuers of PD should always keep an image of this map in the back of their mind. It is also important to note that there is nothing more important than the 3 core principles of Truth, Love & Power & among these 3 Truth is what really matters.
Steve also discusses the key components of Truth - a) Perception b) Prediction c)Accuracy d) Self-Awareness
I stopped reading here to understand and review if I had grasped the concepts.
This is what I have to say -
Each component has been explained to the point & is brief & crispy. Steve should have asked his readers to note the questions asked within each components and try & answer them for each area of their life. He should have suggested keeping a handbook for noting down. This exercise is independent of Part 2 in his book. Why I say this is because, as soon as I read a concept I mentally try to relate it to all/some areas of my life. If I make a note of this then & there, then I can always go back(as the reading progresses) and review my take on these areas.
I hope readers of this post will agree with me.

Hi Dev,

Thanks for your review

You're right that Steve asks a lot of good thoughtful questions in the first part. I went back after reading the book and am going through the first part making sure each time he ask a question, I journal about it.

The book is after all for "smart people" - people willing to put the time and effort into PD - not for people who want quick-fix. So it's probably needless to ask people to take the time to answer those questions. I've noticed from reading other reviews that people do seem to take the time to answer the question - whether in the journal or in their head.

I'm just going to use this topic instead of making a new one.

Steve, I speed-read your whole book today while at Books-A-Million. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed it. Many parts of it reminded me of your blog. I think it was full of great information instead of the "fluff" that we often see in the "self-help" genre, which you are aware of. I appreciated your specific ideas and exercises. Thanks!

I have been enjoying reading Steve's blogs on subjective reality. Is his book related to that matter. Does he go into how to 'reprogram reality', like he mentions in one of his blogs. He did it, but didn't really get into the how of it.

Thanks for your input,
Alyssa Rose

No, the book is not related to subjective reality. If he mentions it (I'm not sure he did), it's probably just in passing in the Spiritual chapter.

In the book, rather then reprograming reality, he rather talks about first figuring out what reality really is (from the truth principle).

Thank you sooooooooooo much for answering this for me. I'm very thirsty for more understanding about subjective reality. Right now I'm in the middle of listening to one of his podcasts on this.
