We thought we'd create a thread and post to compile a list of useful links to resources related to Steve Pavlina's book Personal Development for Smart People (PDSP). This first post in this thread has the links to resources, and will be kept updated. The rest of the thread is for discussion, feedback, and suggestions. The dates following a link is the date the link was added to this page. Anything without a date was added before Nov. 23. Member Created Resources: Images

Notes: The interviews Steve conducted are not always 100% focused on the book or its ideas. They also covered other material related to personal development. Last edited by seeker5; 03-25-2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason: Added new podcast |

| Thanks for setting it up, Seeker. For those of you who don't have access to the Moderator forum board, Seeker took the elegance of his original design for the resource list and masterfully incorporated aspects of my modified example and the long list of my suggestions and explanations of why I made the changes I did. The result is what you see in this thread. My suggestion and explanation changelist was a bit of a monster, threatening to devour all who came near, so props to Seeker for managing to go through it and not drown in the complexity (read: get eaten). As mentioned in the first post, you guys are welcome to submit any resources you know of or have made yourself by simply making a reply in this thread. We'll periodically check this thread and, so long as they reasonably fit the resource list, we'll add them to the first post, crediting the creator of the resources (although we're considering how we can credit you for your efforts). You're also welcome to discuss in this thread. Appropriate discussion topics include, but are not limited to, posts about how great my idea is and how awesome I am. (Just kidding. You guys should actually discuss important stuff. And yes, as you can see, I can go from blatant self-promotion to self-depreciation in 0.6 seconds. I can also make a post that can be used for other resources--if needed; contact me first--look like a genuine contribution.

In the case of Steve's PDSP book - it provides a few purposes: 1) A comprehensive list of reviews about his book - Even though Steve already maintains a list, having another piece of internet "virtual real estate" to drive more traffic to reviews only helps further the promotion of PDSP. 2) As you pointed out, the ranking system helps people theoretically find higher quality reviews. 3) People can add to the list... so if somebody randomly writes a review about Steve's book, it can be added there easily. This is particularly relevant if people writing the reviews are doing it without any contact with Steve. - I'm not sure how likely this is, but it is a possibility. 4) It doesn't appear that the Squidoo lens owner has done much with the lens... but in theory, there could be a lot more fun things on the page like: - Adding video reviews from YouTube - Have a 'debate' module for any number of topics related to Steve's book I personally think this would be the best use of it... to really create an interactive experience around the reviews of PDSP. I don't know if the lens owner will actually do something like that (hopefully she will after reading this forum post!) So for now, I offer it primarily for reasons # 1 and #2 and in hopes that #4 becomes a reality. Has anybody even done a video review of PDSP yet? That would certainly be cool.

Added new one hour long interview:
I did find this "perma" link to Steve's podcast, but there is no download button, simply a play button from which it doesn't seem you can download the mp3. That's at: Free Online Radio - Internet Talk Radio | BlogTalkRadio Can anyone find a way to link to a page or the mp3 from this site in a way that is easy for someone to download the mp3? |

| I just fixed the link. It wasn't working for me; now it is. (Here's the link again, in case anyone wanted it: PDSP Book Resource Links) (The exercise generator is a neat idea, Apollia! Sure beats using a hat!

I'm happy you two (seeker5 and Bruce) liked the stuff I made. Thanks for building this great resource, it's really handy. Quote:
The file's size is 13.7 MB. I found the link by pressing the Play button on this page, which opened up a pop-up window, where there was an "Open in your default player" link, which I right-clicked and then selected "Copy Link Location" to obtain the direct link to the MP3. Quote:

If the list ever gets huge, then having the newest stuff on top might save people from having to scroll down as much. Best wishes, Apollia

The file is pretty big - 49.6 MB. Length: 54 minutes, 10 seconds. Not sure why, but I actually had trouble getting it to play in my preferred MP3 player, Winamp v2.80. However, it worked OK in Windows Media Player. To find the URL, using the Firefox browser, I right-clicked on this page and chose "View Page Source". Then, I chose "Find" from the Edit menu and typed "mp3" in the search box, which brought me to the MP3's URL. Best wishes, Apollia
