Apparently Amazon is already shipping my book, and some people said they already received it. I asked Hay House what was going on and was told that apparently my book shipped 6 weeks early. I'll be talking to their sales guy this afternoon to get the details. I have no idea why they'd ship the book early... especially w/o telling me. I'm still in the dark about what's going on, but I should know the details by the end of the day. If anyone happens by a major bookstore today (like Borders or Barnes & Noble), can you confirm whether or not my book is on the shelf in the self-help section? Once I have all the facts -- and if I can confirm that the book has indeed launched -- I'll obviously have to accelerate my plans quite a bit. The original launch date was October 15th. But for now it looks like you can get the book sooner rather than later, at least through Amazon. I may have to tone down my use of the LoA next time. |

Well as I like to say, "That's a good problem to have." I just checked with my local Books-A-Million, where I have mine pre-ordered, and nothing yet "It looks like it's 'in pending.' It should be on the truck next Tuesday." (My friend Anne works there and she ordered it.) But lucky ones that did get it. Last edited by Lenie; 09-19-2008 at 05:17 PM.

My local Borders doesn't have it yet, so it might just be Amazon that's shipping ahead of schedule. I'll need to get the details from Hay House to figure out what's going on. On the bright side, I'm happy to see that people can get the book early and start reading it. |

How does this affect your book's ranking on "important" lists, like New York Times Bestsellers? I had the understanding that presales count towards the First Week Sales for such lists... but it seems like releasing early will dilute the figures. Of course, we all know that "bestseller" status is meaningless, but I'm sure those stats still affect future sales for many reasons. |

In the meantime I get to practice non-attachment to outcomes.

I just had to say that. I'm sure this isn't the first time Amazon has jumped the gun. I wouldn't worry about bestseller lists. You'll do quite well, mark my words... PDSP = Practice detachment, Steve Pavlina. EWOP = Everything works out perfectly.

I just got off the phone with Hay House. Apparently what happened is that they had the books shipped directly from the printer to their distributors when they should have stored the books in their warehouse for a few weeks. As I understand it, this problem was caused by a lack of internal coordination. I.e. the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. It was a mistake plain and simple. Consequently, Amazon received their order of several thousand books much earlier than they should have and naturally started shipping them. But it wasn't just Amazon. Apparently other distributors, including brick and mortar chains, also have the books now. I haven't been able to verify this yet, but as far as I know, the book may already be on the shelves in many bookstores, both in the USA and Canada. Anyway, this obviously derails the timing of my launch plans, especially since the 400+ blogger review copies only started shipping this week, but all I can do is roll with it. I already switched all the links on StevePavlina.com to reflect the fact that the book is now available. I'll officially announce the book's launch in my blog and newsletter next week. I could do it today, but my traffic is lower during the weekend, so it's best to wait until Monday. The book's Amazon sales rank is 972 as of this moment, so it's already in the top 1K. Certainly not bad for a book that snuck out the door unexpectedly. Anyway, enjoy the book! I wonder who will be the first to post an Amazon review. |

Um... isn't this what you REALLY wanted? More proof you're pretty good at that LOA hocus pocus, I'd say.

Steve, I plan on writing a review for the book once I finish reading it. (Loving it so far.) Does this early release change the rules associated with "How to Get a Link From StevePavlina.com" instructions discussed at How Bloggers Can Get My Book for Free? Thanks, and don't worry. Perhaps this was for the best somehow. |

I hope you're not losing sleep over anything. You replied to me at 1:39AM, which is a bit late. Are you doing okay, Steve? Thanks again for writing such an amazing book. I'm only nearly finished with Chapter 2, and I really like the framework you're laying out. Edit: Scratch that. That's 11:39PM your time. Haha.
