Hi all, We met up last night, Alsy, me, dECLAN and Cela met at illia, then moved onto the irish Times. Much fun was had, and it was great to meet like-minded friends in the flesh! We'll do this again, but agreed to consider somewhere east of the CBD since those there last time were from the east. Likeminded frieds we haven't met yet, please say if this works for you. Maybe we'll meet up again in January? How do I upload the photos? Any ideas anyone? Joy to you Hazel |

Hi Hazel et al, Good call! I have to say what a great time I had. Even though it was the first time we met it seemed at times as though I had known everyone for much longer. I would definitely be up for another meeting in January. Hazel as far as uploading the best way is to either create a private group on Flickr and post the link or alternatively upload them to a free host such as TinyPic and embed them into the thread. Speak soon, Declan |

Hi guys, So good to meet you on Friday night! We had a great time, and would love to meet again in January. Hope people that weren't able to make it on Friday can join us then - tobyhede and Mark Lapierre are two I know were keen to come along, and Holden too! Thanks again Hazel for organising the first meet for us. Hope you can all come up to the Hills for a picnic some time! Cheers, Claire |

Photos (thanks dECLAN) Flickr: Photos from hazelhavingfun Does that work? On the group shots, from L-R dECLAN, Hazel, Claire, Tain (Claire's SO), Paul(Alsy). Joy! Hazel |

Glad to hear those who made it had a good time I'm back in Oz now and still keen for the next meetup. Jan sometime is fine with me, as is a location somewhere East of the city. Bar None in Camberwell is a great little place. And as promised (teased? |

Okay, folks - a new year is upon us, and I'm ready for another catch-up. How about you? So far Camberwell is looking good if we do another Friday night, or we could have a picnic in the hills on a Saturday or Sunday arvo. I'm not fussed on dates or times - whatever suits everyone. How about the 19th or 20th of January? Mark Lapierre, look forward to meeting you - hope you can make it! Holden, tobyhede, intentionengine - we'd love to meet you too. Cheers, Claire |

Hehehe, for some strange reason I read that as "19th or 20th Century"... Oh dear, who's been spiking my fruit juice? The 20th is out for me, but either the Friday or the Sunday is good. I love driving out to the hills, but Camberwell is close, so I'm also happy with either destination. But I'd choose Bar None in Camberwell 'cos it'd mean I can drink I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and perhaps hearing about some of the things going on on the forum which I haven't made the time to read yet. -Mark PS: If we do go back in time, my vote is for the 17th or 18th century. I want to chat with Newton, Leibniz, Huygens, Locke, Hooke, etc (guess which series I've been reading...) |

I'm OK for Friday or Saturday. I know I suggested a picnic in the hills, but now that I think about it, getting my daughter to come along would be impossible, and probably counter-productive anyway. What say we do Bar None in camberwell o Friday 19th then? Say 7pm onwards? What say everyone? joy and happiness to all! Hazel |

Sounds good, Hazel – Tayne and I are happy with that option! PS. How are Melbournites coping with this weather? I am no good in the heat – hence being on the net at 12.30am! Two 39şC days next week – Cheers, Claire |

These days the lack of natural light in my flat, and the ground floor location, is not such a bad thing. It takes a few days of 30+ temps before my flat heats up, and since it's quite open for an old place it cools down again pretty quickly as long as there's a cool breeze. Not looking forward to those two 39 degree days though. Last summer I spent a weekend in the backyard of my old house in a wading pool with my housemates under a tarp flung over the Hills Hoist. Can't do that this time (at least the good news is the forecast will probably be wrong |

When we had that 35 deg day back in September just after I'd started workign from home, I spent the money and got ducted evaporative cooling! It has been the BEST investment! I keep thinking the cool change has come, cos a lovely cool breeze inside! And the power bill has hardly noticed it! I recommend evap cooling - in Melbourne where the heat is dry, we get just as good cooling from the evap, and it uses far less power than aircond. Yay - and I've just turned it off, cos it's cooled down! Yay! Anyway - it'll be great to meet you Mark! joy to all! Hazel |

Thanks for the recommendation, Hazel - we're going to have to spring for something up here, and I didn't really want to go the aircon option (for environmental and expense reasons). We have a portable evap cooler that is pretty effective if you are in its general vacinity, so I'd be happy with something along those lines. *goes off to google cooling options* Anyhoo, see you on Friday 19th! Cheers, Claire |

I am free for any of the days or times suggested so far. Regarding the heat Cela, im just kind of getting use to it now. If you have a general aversion to heat, I could sugest "cooling" foods based on Chinese medicine/ philosophy. some cooling foods; Water mellon, Banana, cucumber, Mung sprouts, most sprouts are cooling from memory. There are more foods. The book i used was only a quick reference book. I will keep a track of this thread as the week progresess. |

Hey Evan, can't wait to meet you! Another Pavlina buddy No official name - maybe we can discuss that on the night! Last time, Hazel was kind enough to organise the café staff to write "stevepavlina.com forum meet" on the wall, but I missed that completely, and we just kind of stood at the door and looked lost till she rescued us! Here is what some of us look like – maybe that helps? Cheers, Claire |

Yes, Evan I've been turning this over in my mind since you asked too. Maybe we should have a banner! AT the last meetup, no-one noticed the sign I'd put on the wall, so my recommendation is that you turn up, step inside Bar None and look lost! We will all either pick up, or be arrested for hassling people as they come in the door! ;-) Details for bar none: Bar None Lounge 72 -74 Auburn Pde Hawthorn East 3123, (03) 9882 1086 And checking whereis, it seems to be just about on the corner of Auburn Pde and Bourke Rd. Which is just about opposite Camberwell Station is. So it's a great place to get to by train as well. Yay! I'll look forward to meeting you Evan! Others... Holden McNeil? Anyone else? Joy to you Hazel |

Thanks for that Hazel! So how about we just say we're looking for Steve Pavlina's group? (and whoever turns up first can be Steve Pavlina's group. And we can take turns being Steve For those who haven't been there before (which is everyone 'cept me I'd guess), when you come off Burke rd and walk down Auburn Pde, the entrance is a few doors down on the left. You walk down some stairs, then turn to the right and the door to the bar is in front of you. When I went last (which was also my first time) there wasn't any signage down the stairs (though I may have simply missed it), and there's more than one door at the bottom, so I just picked the door that was the loudest. Once you're inside, if they're not too busy there'll be a waiter/waitress standing there ready to guide you to a couch/table. That's where you'd take Hazel's suggestion and act lost and hopefully someone will spot you. Or ask for Steve Pavlina's group Hehe, can you tell I'm just a little excited right now... |

Hope that you all have a great time Friday night meeting up. Unfortunately, I can't make it as I have family that has just arrived to stay for a few days but I would be interested another time. I'll keep checking the thread in future. Nice to see the Melbourne group is growing. Sharyn |
