Default Austin crowd??

Hi there. I'm reaching out to connect with the Austin crowd. I think it would be great to connect in real-life and get to know each other. Our energies will help us further our intention-manifestations!

Is anyone out there?

Wow, this was posted a long time ago -- but there is an Austinite or two navigating the periphery. If you're still around, hi! ;}

As long as you're referring to Austin, TX, I'm there! I am struggling with the Law of Attraction, intention-manifestation, etc. Worldmegan, are you familiar with any of that? Any other Austiniites? Maybe someone should put up a flyer at Whole Foods and Wheatsville to see if any other Steve Pavlina fans are out there!

I'm from Austin, plus I'm also a conscious human being.

Disclaimer: I'm also pretty weird and ripe with flaws

Need to shop at Whole Foods some day, suppose next Tuesday is a good day for that.

I am familiar with the LoA, however from my perspective its basically a bunch of crock.

So glad you did, too, worldmegan! A2K89, glad to hear from you! I would like to think LoA is a crock, too, but I think it's something I need to know more about before I can discount it. To be honest, I have seen it mentioned on Oprah twice now, which would be an excellent reason to dismiss it. But since Steve believes it (whose thought process is VERY similar to mine), it's worth looking at. Are you willing to still look at it, A2K89?

Sure. Positive attitudes are great, sometimes I repeat mantras just for the feel good effect, but I don't expect much to happen at all without action. I think having that sort of positive attitude does make you receptive to good things, just on a very small and logical level. If you want to make friends, and go out in the world with a very positive/open attitude, of course your going to make friends because other people like the vibe they get from you. Thats not the Universe shifting itself about for you, thats just a logical reward for your attitude.

I have a couple times, intentionally made myself believe that I WAS going to win millions of dollars through the lottery, and imagined all the wonderful things I could do with that money. -Just for that awesomely peaceful mental state.

Does the reason I don't believe in LoA have to do with not winning millions of dollars? Of course not.

Its just that 'intention manifestation' does not mix well with my personal philosophies and world view.

Besides.. I'm sure the Buddha's, Jesus', and Eckhart Tolle's of the world would have discovered/mentioned such a thing if it were true.

After 3 days of trying LoA, I'm forming some interesting theories about it. The statement:

<quote>Its just that 'intention manifestation' does not mix well with my personal philosophies and world view. </quote>

That was exactly what made this difficult for me at first. But my most important philosophy is to follow the truth wherever it takes me. Whatever reality is, I want to know. If I have to change my entire philosophy because I find out it wasn't right, so be it. However, I've come to the point where I have learned so much and everything fits so well together. So I'm not going to easily give up a world view that makes perfect sense. And even after 3 days of learning about and trying Law of Attraction / Intention-Manifestation, I don't think it's exactly what it's touted to be, but what I learn from it will still be helpful.

Sounds like we're at least on the same wavelength, A2K89!
