Lightbulb Useful Idea

I dont know if this has been sugested before but i don't see it in the forum(unless i'm missing the obvious) so here goes:

I think it would me far more useful to have some kind of member map application (maybe using a google maps plugin if there is one) built into the forum, which would allow each member to place one pinpoint of there location on the map. When the member's pinpoint is clicked it would show a info bubble (much like on google maps) with some general info a link to there profile.

What's the point?
Well, it would be 1000000 (yep that's correct 1 million) times easier to find other members close to you for things such as meet ups or group forming. Rather than having 11 pages of threads with people posting "anyone in (insert your city) area", then a bunch of replies saying "i'm in such and such a place...
(which is 300miles away or even better a different country )"
You could even go as far as to form groups for specific areas or cities which have a visual pinpoint on the map with the same info bubble when clicked that containing a link to the group page/thread with a list of members, future meet up date, basically whatever you want.

But i don't want others to see a satellite image of my house (aka your exact location)...
Well guess what they don't have to!!! isn't that just wonderful? you could just pick landmark close to where you live and that could be where your pinpoint is located (users don't need to know you exact lat and lon for it to serve its purpose). And also that way the location to your secret hideout (aka your home) remains unknown. and if your still feeling paranoid it would actually be optional so you wouldn't have to submit your location at all.

(i know most of the members don't think so pessimistically so excuse the sarcastic undertones, it was actually unintentional...at first )

Don't be offended or feel like i'm disrespecting anyone or the current system in use, just speculating on how we could improve this system and make it more beneficial your everyone.

If people are feeling the idea then we can holla at Steve and see if he can or wants to implement it.

Any suggestions or alternative ideas please feel free...

( oh btw this is my first post but i will introduce myself properly in the appropriate area)
