Hi all, as suggested what date would you prefer, Saturday the 10th of Feb or Sunday the 11th Feb? Also what sort of area would you prefer? My personal preference is the Sunday and somewhere maybe around the Baker Street/Green Park area, or anywhere where it would be a bit quieter so that it's easier for us to talk. |

i haven't voted in the poll because i'm not 100% sure i can make it - and either day is probably okay for me, but thank you for doing the poll, which i guess i partly touched off :-) as was already mentioned by other posters, i find that the museum cafes tend to be noisy/not great for groups of more than 2 or 3 to try to sit together and discuss (due to small tables and crowded conditions). though the locations themselves are wonderful! one place that has a couple of small rooms holding a table or two tables that can fit 6-12 people nicely and in partial seclusion (and which you can reserve for free) is a restaurant called Rocket down the little cobblestone alleyway where the Handel blue plaque and the Hush bar are - about 5 minutes' walk south of Oxford St. from Bond St. tube station - though I can't think of any of the street names now. however they might expect people to eat something since it's mainly a restaurant. a different suggestion to throw into the mix is the crypt (underground) cafe at st martin in the fields church (trafalgar square) - we could probably pull several tables together and stay as long as we like -- i think they've got tea/coffee and also wine/beer, plus simple snacks/food --- during an influx of tourists it can be noisy and busy like the museum cafes, but is atmospheric with candles and the old stonework etc. so many wonderful places in this beautiful city :-) |

Ann - Excellent, appreciate the flexibility! Vishal - good to have you on board! Oriental_Express - Definitely, I think we're all going to take a lot of benefit from this! I'm a bit reluctant to a choose a bar to meet at because it's likely that it will be smoky and noisy. I don't know about the others but a bar just isn't conducive, in my humble opinion, to having a productive PD meeting. Skydust - I like the Library Idea and quite keen on that but it's got to be one where it's not too quiet so that we can talk openly. Nantucket - I like the sound of that crypt place, I have no idea where it is but maybe if I get a chance this weekend I'll check it out. Pidrib - thank you! |

Unfortunately, I had a last minute change of plans so I will not be able to meet all of you next Sunday I am sure it will be an awesome meeting in getting to know people. I hope we will be able to meet on a monthly basis if the first one is successful |
