Hi All, I really want to setup a PD peer group in London for people who are interested in maybe meeting once a month or so, over a coffee, to have some lively discussion on various topics so that we can assist in each others growth. It doesn't matter where in London you're from, we can always find a relatively central location for people to meet at as there are so many cafe's around. Put your name down if you're interested and I'm more than happy to organise it! |

Welcome onboard pidrib! Rossio, excellent, I always thought you were in the UK too, I didn't realise you were down under...that's a shame! Hey Joe, glad to hear you're onboard.... Right then folks, It looks like there are at approximately 10 of us which is a great number to get started on. Firstly apologies I've been so quiet, it's been a busy start to the year but I'm raring to go! So I wanted to suggest a potential date and location to you all to get your thoughts. As a date, I was thinking about the 11th of February which is a Sunday, so we could meet in the early afternoon. As for location, I was thinking along the lines of quiet cafe, somewhere that isn't too busy so that we don't have to shout to talk and somewhere that should be relatively easy to get to in terms of transport. There are a few nice cafes not far from baker street station and so that is a potential meeting point. What are your thoughts etc? Let me know and lets get the ball rolling! |

Hi Amit, I'm in London (southwest London/edge of Surrey) too. That meeting plan sounds good. As a suggestion, I personally would prefer to meet on a Saturday, as I could combine the trip up to Baker Street with various errands/shopping and other travel I need to do in the centre of town. But if Sundays are better for others, that is okay! |

I'm open to a vote too, lets just go with the majority overall. I put my vote down for Sunday. Does anyone know if we can add a poll to this thread or would we have to start a new thread? Ann, I was hoping to avoid LS, CG only because it's quite busy in those area's on a Sunday I would rather go somewhere, where it's a bit quieter so that we can talk easily and not have to shout over one another. |

My preference is Sunday as I have lectures on Saturdays. 11th Feb sounds good to me! I'm easy about where.. although Leicester Square/Covent Garden will be very busy so could we meet somewhere less hectic? How about the cafe at the Tate/National Gallery?

It looks like we'll have to create a new thread in order to have a poll Amit, since you came up with this idea, why don't you pick a location and create a new poll asking, i.e. "Would you like to get together on Sunday, 11th Feb at location at 2pm?" The ones who are interested will take a vote and can make additional comments. In the beginning of February, you announce the final location of the meeting just in case there are other Londoners who want to join us at the last minute |

Hi I'm up for meeting up. Would prefer Sunday 11th but could do Saturday 10th if needed too although it is my birthday weekend so you'll all have to buy me presents!!! I used to go to a writing group that met in cafes in London on a Friday evening. I'm not sure if you meant the Tate cafe or the Tate Modern. We used to meet in the cafe of the Tate Modern and although it is really nice it is very noisy. All those espresso machines, plus a lot of echo make it really difficult to hear other people! We didn't use the Tate cafe so can't comment on that so may have the wrong end of the stick here! The best place we met was the Royal Festival Hall cafe in the main foyer. It was large so we all sit down and not as noisy so we could all hear and it had a nice atmosphere. However, I haven't been there for a bit and am not sure if the refurbishment has been completed yet. Does anyone know? Other than that the cafe at the British Museum was nice but echo-y which made it hard to hear and would probably be very busy on a Sat or Sunday too. Can't remember what the cafe is like at the portrait gallery. Not sure if this post has been any help or not! |

I know it's in a few months, but just out of curiosity, are any of you going to attend the The Mind Body Festival at the end of May? Mind Body Spirit Festival - 31st Anniversary from 23 to 28 May 2007 |
