Hey guys! Adrienne, some friends and I are gonna be in Costa Rica for the colder months up North (fall/winter) and are curious as to who wants to hang out while we're down there! I'll be arriving sooner (as I like the cold less :P) and am also curious about where and what people would suggest. I'm thinking a 3-5 bedroom home on 4 acres should be fine, since I'd like to build a mini-ramp of my own and not bother any of my neighbors with my skating! Let us know |

I currently reside in Toronto; but yes, Costa Rica is DIRT cheap compared. What I suggested (4 acre farm-ish land, 3-5 bd 2-4 bath) shouldn't cost more than $1500 a month, and we'll probably find it for half of that! A cook and a maid will be cheap cheap, and will make life all the more enjoyable. The pool, hammocks, the weather, the many stones-throw scenes of paradise in the lush forest, many places to hike and explore, a new culture to learn from! I'm paying $325 a month for a room in a 3 bedroom house now, so it's not like it's costly, but the costs of living in general are lower there. |

So you'll probably end up living on $500-600/month per person for all expenses paid - room, maid, cook, food...? | |

Keep dreaming - I'll be spending quite a bit still, but just to get a semi-regular winter home into the shape that I'd like it. I may have to just rent some warehouse space to put my mini ramp in instead of outside since it can rain something serious down their during the... rainy season. |

I am really looking forward to it! I cant wait!!!! TO answer your questions seeker.. we probably could do it much cheaper then we are (i am planning to spend around 600 a month for food, shelter, etc) I am sure i may some months spend more for certain activities, but i am thinking my basic living expenses will be around 600 and anything over that is discretionary spending for kiteboarding, hiking, scuba diving, or whatever adventure i am up for! And i am up for alot of adventures! That reminds me.. i need to learn spanish.. good thing they have a DS game for it! As Dave has said in other posts, other people are welcome to join us. |
