Hey everyone - If you are sociable, intelligent and/or entrepreneurially minded you might be interested in joining up in this mastermindgroup I'm setting up. It'll be a monthly group meeting that Erin had talked here (Erin Pavlina - Spiritual Wisdom for Conscious People » Blog Archive » Mastermind Groups) to have entrepreneural/GTD/personal growth oriented discussion with like-minded people. Depending on the demographics of where people are, we can choose the destination of where we want to hold this after. If we can get 3-5 serious replies before the end of November 2007, I'll get right to setting it up. I'm also looking for people offline (friends talking to friends etc), and I've already got a reply from someone at waterloo here interested via PM -- so I think we can make this happen. I am ideally looking for 6-8, highly motivated, earnest people. So reply fast if you are interested before the spots fill up We will follow Erin's outline (I changed it to fit our needs) to start with and adapt as we get better at it: 1. Size matters: 6-8 (no more than 8, I think 2 hours is good. This can be discussed/changed after the first meeting if desired.) 2. Trust and love: It’s very important that all the members in the mastermind group be trustworthy and coming from a place of love. If you have jealousy, that won’t work because instead of holding your intention they may actually try to sabotage you. And trust is important since a lot of very personal and private things are discussed at a meeting and it’s important to respect people’s privacy. What is said and revealed in a mastermind meeting never leaves the meeting. 3. Time and location. Select a time and location that will work for everyone. Stay committed to meeting at the same time and location if possible. New members should conform to the established time and location because moving it around every time a new person joins could ruin it for the established members. 4. Invoke the power of the mastermind. Before we get going with our meeting we ground and center ourselves, pulling our energy into the “now” so that we can focus on what we’re trying to achieve instead of kavetching about our problems. Someone reads an inspiring paragraph that invokes the power of our mastermind group. What you say and/or invoke is entirely up to all of you. 5. Come prepared. Perhaps it'll be a Friday night or a weekend or whatnot on a predetermined day: we will have our ”I Asks” done, every member will send their "I Asks" to everyone else via email -- everybody comes prepared with their purpose/intention on a piece of paper. We don’t want people showing up to a meeting without knowing their intention because it takes up too much of the group’s time while one is formed. If someone doesn’t have an “I Ask” we just skip them that week. 6. Close with love: Everybody comes from different backgrounds, in different lines of work, at different places financially and at different ages. But just two hours a month, efficiently run, would yield a powerful benefit. Let's support each other in achieving goals in any category such as financial, social, health, relationships, and business. It'll be great. If you are interested or have any questions, leave a message here and/or contact me at mastermind3388@gmail.com (an account I set up just for this purpose). I am trying to set up a DC mastermind group. I really had no direction as to the conduction of the group. This really helps though and sounds like something to work with. Thanks PS. any ideas on how to get DC audience involved would be appreciated. |

I'm grateful for your post, I was afraid I was coming on too picky about who I would want as part of the group (I suddenly realized that perhaps a lot less Toronto people than I think are part of those 50+ page views). I can't say for sure because I don't actually have this set up yet, but just talk about it to everyone who you think are either quite social/intelligent and/or know people who are motivated about producing a mini think-tank. Ask people if they know what a MasterMind Group is. You might be pleasantly surprised (as I was) that others knew about it. That's sort of how I see it and am going about it. Also, enthusiasm is contagious I believe and so, be enthusastic about it and share your enthusiasm with others. Also if you use LOA/intention-manifestation, just like anything if you really want it, it's like digging a hole. You don't know when the water will come up, all you can do is just keep digging and digging and digging. Just keep your energy up, ask around, have positive expectations that the people you think you can contribute to and help you as well in your life come around--it'll come. That's my current mindset about this. Hope this helps. Last edited by ArthurHung; 11-01-2007 at 02:05 AM. |

Wow, you have kept me totally motivated. Your response seemed to be exactly what I needed to hear. I have been at this for about a week checking many times a day to see if anyone has responded to my PMs or emails, however I have corresponded with one person. I feel like there is a certain level of understanding that all Pavlina people have and thats why I am so interested in starting a group with like minded individuals. I am very enthused at the idea of meeting people who already know pavlina's blog. There would be so much less surface to scratch through with a pavlina blogger and we could get focused much quicker. That is why i have focused my group recruitting strictly to the website. I have tried to introduce people to the site before and very few have stuck. but perhaps i should refocus. MY ENERGY IS HIGH though and I am going to set up a group that is for sure. Thanks for the motivation. Good Luck |

Arthur this has been ridiculously easy for you. I am so jealous. It has been one day and you have a group. I am starting a new thread called DC Mastermind Group. Thanks in advance if the title idea i hope it changes the response time.

Hey all - I've been reading about a "thinking club" which is very similar to the mastermind group. This could help our initial meeting - it suggests we start off light and then delve into the deeper personal topics later. ::EDWARD DE BONO :: Setting up a thinking Club :: It talks about: Having a time-keeper, a notetaker, strictly keeping to the time constraints set, integrate humor and more--there's some excellent stuff here that we can use. We are still waiting for a few more people but for now if anyone wants to chip in some ideas on what they like from reading the above link, we can adapt my original outline. |

EDIT: Awesome, we have 5 then. I have set up a Yahoo group and have contacted everyone by PM (Crystal and Doomrulz by email) so that you guys can send me your email to join the group to input your real names/contact info/our schedules/ when we can meet/ whatever's necessary on it. While we are having a meet-up this weekend, I'd love to hear from anyone who is interested (or involved) in a mastermind group something like the original poster put forth. When conscious, growing people support each other amazing things can and do happen!
