I think Herbivore in SF would be a good spot to get started.

Diner-style organic vegan food with reasonable ($10 entree) prices. The restaurant has plenty of room to have a meet-up in. The only problem is that the service is a sometimes slow.

Unfortunately I feel pretty awful eating carbs in any significant amount. I have carnivore genes . Gotta have my steak.
