The last interviews I had took place more than a few years ago. They did not go well at all! I was really nervous and stuttered over my words. I couldn't clearly articulate why I was qualified for the position. And I did prepare for the interviews. Looking back, I can see reaons where I went wrong: prior to the interviews, I didn't visualize myself being at ease, confident, gaining rapport w/ the interviewer, etc. Rather, I felt nervous and apprehensive of the interviews. Low and behold, that's exactly how I came across when the real interviews took place. Job interviews were like anchors for me to get all mind-clustered and nervous. Lately, I've been using NLP techniques to try and reverse this anchor. Now that I'm know more about LOA and IM, I'm guessing I should visualize and especially FEEL the success of getting hired? Right here, right now, at this moment should I FEEL as if I just received that call telling me I was hired? I'll appreciate any advice on this. Thanks! edit: just want to add that a couple weeks back, I watched the Democratic Presidential Debate. The candidates were asked random questions by people on Youtube.com. I was so impressed w/ how they answered random questions w/ such grace and poise. it seems the right words just come to them naturally; their verbal fluency is amazing. For me to give such great responses, it'd be necessary for me to know the question ahead of time and prepare. Otherwise, I'd have a lot of "uh's" and "you know's" Last edited by Peleke4; 08-17-2007 at 01:26 AM. |

The trick is to treat them exactly as you would treat yourself. If they don't respect you for that or don't identify with it, then there's a better version of you out there with a better job for you Seriously, would you be nervous if the person interviewing you was you?....no, you'd be honest and caring, considerate and respectful and you'd get the job, it's when we think the other person is something unlike us, that we get into trouble. You can intend all day long, but if you see the interviewer as something that is against you or not on your side, then that will be the intention and the manifestation. Max

Hi Peleke, Max has a good point. In order to answer an interviewer's questions, you have to rely on your memory of your skills, attributes and qualities. So once asked about them, you should be able to simply state them with enthusiasm. But when you are at that moment, it seems hard to remember, hard to express them due to nervouseness. Nervouseness affects the memory and certain physical functions because your brain is thinking that something more important demands your attention like the interviewer's opinion! So it becomes a little hard to remember, harder to express your words when that happens. What also may be happening is that with each stutter (real or imagined) you may become more self conscious and making it harder to remember ect. It's ok and normal to get nervous at a job interview- it's more like anticipation than fear and that how you should look at it. Let it be ok to have been a little nervous at those interviews, the interviewer definitely has seen it before and understands, he or she has probably been nervous at interviews just like you! Also consider that it may not be as bad you think. That stutter may not have been noticed at all by the interviewer. Or any the mistakes you felt may have happened although it felt like it. The key to this may be self consciousness- being too aware of every small thing you do and feel you're being judged- and that may be the key to improvement. First learn to recognize WHEN you're feeling self conscious, then reject those thoughts, then direct your attention away from you and towards something else for a moment. Use this in your visualization, recognizing when you're being self conscious, then calming down and directing your attention elsewhere as you calmly continue answering the questions with a smile. And also practice smiling so that you will appear friendly without even having to say as much. I also have some pretty good ideas as far manifesting the job part, and it has to do with the interviewer, so if after reading this posting you are interested just reply, good luck.... You got it Pelek! That's one way to keep the focus away, at least enough for you to finish and give a good interview. If you want, it's also ok to imagine becoming self conscious or nervous during the interview. Why? Because you'll be imagining something that actually occurs during the interview, and that gives you the opportunity to imagine how you'll react in response to that. So if you imagine/visualize yourself stuttering, and feel the nervousness then imagining yourself automatically calming down and focusing on your symbol and feeling great, giving a great interview, you can condition your mind to handle the "emergencies" and take care of it for you. As far as intention and manifesting, there is a technique that may help. You can try remote influence. This is where you influence the mind of a person from a distance, and can be done even if you have never met the person. Once you know the interviewer or have some idea of him or her, you can influence this person the night before the interview that you are the right person for the job. Or that he or she will respond warmly to you during the interview. This I think, is closely related to manifesting except more directed and a little technical.. Tell us what you think, good luck... |

Please list your ideas for manifesting job. This one intention of mine (getting the job) has not manifested...YET...and your ideas might just do the trick.

Peleke4, You might be interested in an article I wrote for Northwestern U alumni called 10 Critical Differences Between Executive Job 'Candidates' and Executive Job 'Getters'. For IM, LOA, or any other strategy to work when it comes to interviewing, I think the idea being brought up so far is exactly right--that you have to remain externally focused as opposed to internally focused--but it may not go quite far enough. Don't stop with IM'ing a successful interview. A successful interview is not what you're after. *The job* is what you're after. Use IM to get the job! Use LOA to bring you the job! The interview is an obstacle--a formality, even--that stands between you and your goal. That's all it is. Plan for the interview, prepare for it, and execute it, but don't ever take your eyes off the ultimate goal--see yourself in the job at all times! If you can see yourself in the job, you'll handle interview mistakes (which are inevitable) with aplomb. You'll handle them the way someone with the job would handle them: by treating them as the minor little hiccups they are. Good luck! |

Peleke4! Have you ever tried to walk straight while thinking about it...??? Can't be done... if it's not natural... it can't be done... Same with an interview... you are you and no one else... relax, take it naturally... and you'll be at your best... The interviewer wants you to be the guy for the job... that way, he will not have to interview twenty other applicants... he's on your side... so, just let it flow... you'll come out smelling like a rose... and getting what you wanted in the first place... The very best of luck to you... . |

Hi again Peleke and Write2win, I would be happy to share the techniques I learned. I can list only 2 here now because of space. The other techniques are more technical and detailed and involves writing, but I have seen it personally work for someone for the same reasons. If you are going to an interview; 1. The night before or a few nights before the interview, relax and go into an alpha state. It can be late night or early night or whenever you can practice. If you don't know how you can try this; sitting or lying down, stretch each part of your body from the feet on up to the count of 10. Afterwards, sit back and count down from 60 to 0, feeling your body drop a little with each count. 2. Take about 10 slow, deep breaths in and out. 3.Imagine a ball of energy forming between your palms. Give it a color if you want. Energize this color by taking more breaths, letting the ball grow stronger. 4. Imagine or feel the interviewer. Place your feelings, words and thoughts inside of this ball. An example can be that you are the best person for this job, and that giving you the job will benefit the interviewer or company. Another is a feeling of warmth and connection with the interviewer. Feel free to use your own examples, don't be afraid to experiment! 5. Send this ball to the interviewer, like a magnet. Imagine the interviewer receiving it and responding to it whether awake or asleep. At this point you may now communicate directly with the interviewer too. Just send your thoughts directly "at" him or her with the same words or thoughts or feelings. If you are looking for a job, no interview yet; 1. Do steps 1 thru 3 above. 2. In your ball, place the image of you having the job you want. A big image. Feel how good it will feel to have it each time you imagine this. Place that feeling inside as well. If you want you can place the message or idea "now" "or right now" as well. You can also place an "ad" of you promoting yourself for the job you want and that they will benefit if they hired you. 3. Send this ball off to all prospective employers who are holding the job you want. It doesn't matter if you don't know any. Imagine it finding them directly and entering them. Imagine the employers are receiving the ball and message whether awake or asleep and responding to it. Now, directly send your thoughts out to all employers, introducing yourself, telling why you are the best person for the job, and that they will benefit. Ask them to come to you, find you, be creative! Keep practicing this technique and watch for any results that may show up. The other technique is a meditation/ sound technique that is somewhat interesting. If you like and the technique above doesn't suit you I'll be happy to post that one next time. As for the other technique I mentioned if interested you can let me know because I rather send it by email than post here because describing it takes up too much space. Good luck and let me/us know how it goes! Last edited by nightdiamond; 08-19-2007 at 06:16 AM. |

Hey thanks everyone for the advice. Unfortunately, the interview was cancelled : ( I especially like the pattern that NightDiamond described here, which looks promising. I'll give it a try in situations other than interviews for now.
