| I was 'in it' (here in the UK) when I was 15 and 20. A waste of time sadly, nothing really profound came from being in it other than a monthly magazine. I met some members at a couple of meetings when I was studying in London. Some of them thought they were something, whilst others were quite straight-forward and better to get on with. IQ testing seems to be increasing questioned now. |

| I considered joining at one time. I happened upon a meeting, and everyone was twice my age. It seemed like a close-knit senior social group that mostly wanted to sit around and talk. I was looking for a younger, more active group. That was only one club, so I have no idea whether that's common of the others. I've heard stories of unusual social dynamics in some Mensa groups -- power struggles, obsessing over trivialities, even suicide. You can score high on a Mensa test but be totally lacking in other key intelligences, such as social intelligence and emotional intelligence. I think there's a big Mensa convention in Las Vegas each year, but I've never attended.

| I would want to join.. but they almost never do tests in my country, and virtually never in my state (last was in 2003). I think being a Mensan doesnt add much to your life but is a great confidence-boost and a great piece to put in your curriculum. edit: It's also a great show off

| As if there is some relation between high IQ and social behavior! Guffaw! /sarcasm I have noticed this among classmates in school, coworkers, and even family members. I think it all goes back to the old "smart kid is a nerd, thus has no friends" concept and we don't gain natural social skills, we have to force ourselves to learn it. There is a fat line between introversion and shyness, especially when intelligence is involved. |

| I know, Max that you were kidding when you asked 'what's a Mensan?'. Mensan are the members of Mensa (wikipedia link here) who score within the top 2% (above the 98th percentile) of any approved standardized intelligence test. |

How is intelligence defined...? (I'm not asking for the dictionary definition here) It's not my intention to be a smart a** here, just curious...

| By some very unreliable test online my IQ is 150. They "claim" to be with in pro tests by 5 either direction. I thought mensa was 180 and up??? Am I wrong??? I heard once that Sharon Stone is a member. HEHE

| More like 130. Mensa simply isn't exclusive enough for Steve. They let in the top 2%, while Steve is only interested in the top 1% |

| Yeah, I know here in Oregon it was 127 when I took it, so it's probably curved on the amount of members in a specific area- like too many members would raise the curve since it's based off of 2% and not a static amount. |
